Liam McNeeley is the No. 18 player in the 2024 On3 Consensus. The 6-foot-7 wing transferred to Montverde (FL) Academy this season, where he is shooting over 50 percent from three on the season.

“I try to be as versatile as I can,” McNeeley told On3. “I stretch the floor, obviously watching me with Montverde; I can shoot the three. I’ll also put it on the floor to create for my teammates and sometimes get to the rim. I watch a lot of Luka Doncic; he is my favorite player on my favorite team. I like his ability to create opportunities, and I think he’s the best passer in the league.”

McNeeley led Nike’s EYBL 16u Circuit in scoring, at over 24 per game, through April, which led to a call up to the 17u level in May. The four-star averaged 14.5 points in 15 games playing up with the Drive Nation program. On3 caught up with Liam McNeeley after a recent live viewing to talk official visits.

“I took an official visit to Indiana; that is it so far,” McNeeley said. “I’m trying to set up an official visit with Texas; that will be the next visit I take.”

McNeeley talks recruitment

Indiana: “Coach Walsh is my guy, he is in charge of recruiting me, and we have formed a good relationship. They’re a historic program and play in a historic stadium, and Coach Woodson is a historic coach. They have a lot of good stuff going on over there.

“My favorite part of my official was probably watching their practice at Assembly Hall. That place is crazy, so nice.”

Texas: “I like talking with their coaches; they’re really personable. Texas is on a roll right now; they’re really fun to watch. They’re also from my home state. They have two new guards, Jabari Rice and Tyrese Hunter. They take a lot of pressure off Marcus Carr, and those three together allow all of them to push the ball and can look for each other or their own shots.”

“I talk with Michigan a good bit,” McNeeley said. “They came down to practice a couple of weeks ago, but no word on an offer yet. LSU and Oklahoma are a couple of schools who have offered that I’m talking a lot with.”

In Liam’s words

“We are a basketball family, to be honest,” McNeeley said. “My mom played at Rice. I had two uncles who played at SMU, and my granddad played at TCU.”

“I’m looking for a great basketball program,” McNeeley said. “I want to win, but also, a coach who cares about me as much off the court as they care about me on the court. Of course, style of play will matter, my main goal is to reach the NBA, and that is what NBA scouts will be watching to see if you can fit in the NBA style.
