Liam McNeeley is the No. 18 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Consensus — the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies.

The 6-foot-7, 205-pound small forward from Texas recently made the move to powerhouse Montverde Academy. Over the weekend, McNeeley updated his recruitment and discussed future potential visits.

McNeeley talks programs

Five schools are staying in consistent contact with the Texas native, whose recruitment remains open.

“I’m hearing from Texas, Indiana, LSU, Oklahoma, Kansas a little, but they haven’t offered yet,” he says.

McNeeley has taken an official visit to Indiana, and made unofficial trips to Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and TCU. He says he would like to take official visits to Texas and Oklahoma.

Texas: “I really like coach (Chris) Beard. He’s a really personable guy and I like talking to him. He’s obviously a good coach. He took that Texas Tech team to the championship so I’m excited to see what he can do at Texas. He’s just really cool.”

Indiana: “Coach (Mike) Woodson has an NBA mind. He’s both coached and played in the NBA for longer than I’ve been alive. He knows what it takes to get there and it’s a program.”

Oklahoma: “Coach (Porter) Moser came from Loyola. That was a great run they had so he’s obviously a good coach since he took that team pretty deep. At Oklahoma, he has the Jordan Brand so he has the resources and I think they’ll have a good year.”

What will he bring to a college program and what is he looking for in a school?

What will Liam McNeeley bring to a college program?

“I think I bring a lot of versatility,” he says. “I can shoot the ball, finish at the rim. I can play the one through four and can guard multiple positions. Mainly, I try to focus on having a lot of energy.”

What’s he looking for in a school?

“I’m looking for a great college basketball program as well as a good academic school. But most importantly, I want a coach that cares about me as much as they do on the court, as off the court. Location doesn’t matter to me, but living in a cool city, a cool place would be nice.”
