Atlanta, Georgia – College coaches from across the country are in Atlanta this weekend for the Live Evaluation Period. On3 is at the UAA Session 3 to keep you up to date throughout the day.

10:30 AM Team Curry (NC) vs. Grand Park Premier (IN)

Even with an early start, the college coaches were lined up to watch this one. The primary matchup was Team Curry’s 4-star point guard Silas Demary, Jr., and Grand Park’s shooting guard Joey Hart.

Head coaches Nate Oats (Alabama), Brad Underwood (Illinois), Brad Brownell (Clemson), Mike Boynton (Oklahoma State), Mike Young (Virginia Tech), Chris Mooney (Richmond), Rick Stansbury (Western Kentucky), Johnny Dawkins (Central Florida), and Tony Bennett (Virginia) all sat courtside from start to finish. Assistants from NC State, St. Bonaventure, Davidson, Purdue, and every mid-major east of the Mississippi watched.

Hart showcased his shot-making prowess. He finished with 11 points in the game, going 3 of 3 from beyond the arc. The elevation he gets on his jump shot and the repeatable soft release is impressive. He also had a put-back dunk in the first half that brought everyone to their feet.

Demary, Jr. was the point guard for the team who won by 20. He finished with 10 points, was 1 of 2 from three, and he locked down the point of attack defensively.

11:45 AM KC Run GMC (KS) vs. Team Rio University (NJ)

The KC Run GMC duo of Parker Friedrichsen and Carey Booth continue to attract coaches from across the country. And the pair was able to follow up yesterday’s close double-overtime loss with a 15-point win in this one.

Clemson’s Brad Brownell, Penn State’s Micah Shrewsberry, Purdue’s Matt Painter, Cal’s Mark Fox, Iowa’s Fran McCaffery, Virginia Tech’s Mike Young, Boston College’s Earl Grant, and George Mason’s Kim English were all courtside from start to finish. Creighton, Cincinnati, BYU, Minnesota, and Ohio State all had assistant coaches as well.

The 6-foot-3 Friedrichsen used his smooth shooting stroke and confident demeanor to lead the team in scoring with 18 points. He was mostly used as a catch and shoot threat early, but showed some secondary handle in the second half. Booth is a 6-foot-10 post player. He moves very fluidly which is especially intriguing on the defensive end both with switching and in protecting the rim.

It must be noted that Micah Shrewsberry has been behind Carey Booth’s bench for both games here so far.

1:00 PM Middlesex Magic (MA) vs. Team Stuck (WA)

At this time last year Middlesex Magic center JP Estrella was unranked. For this game, Danny Hurley (UConn), Fran McCaffery (Iowa), Rick Pitino (Iona), Josh Pastner (Georgia Tech), Matt McKillip (Davidson) and coaches from Syracuse, Stanford, Marquette, Louisville, and Duke were among the 75-plus coaches watching.

Estrella is as steady as it comes in this setting, you can pretty much lock in a double-double with a handful of blocked shots. These high-level college coaches will continue coming around as Estrella continues to produce. His five visits after August 15 will be interesting.

4:45 PM We R 1 (DE) vs. West Coast Elite-NorCal (CA)

Elmarko Jackson continues to be one of the biggest draws in Atlanta. The 4-star point guard faced an intriguing matchup with 4-star shooting guard Courtney Anderson in this one.

Jim Larranaga (Miami) has been at everyone of Jackson’s games so far. Tony Bennett (Virginia), Mike Rhoades (VCU), and Nate Oats (Alabama) joined Larranaga for this one.

The matchup had about 65 coaches looking on, including assistants from Kansas, Oklahoma, Michigan, Maryland, Ole MIss, Maryland, Iowa, Cal, Florida, South Florida, Villanova, UCLA, Louisville, and Colorado.

The game lived up to the hype as well. It went into overtime as Modesto (CA) Christian 2023 BJ Davis knocked down pair of free throws with two seconds left on the clock to win the game.

Jackson finished with a game high 26 points. He used his quickness to get into the paint and his strength to finish at the rim. He also finished 2 of 3 from beyond the arc. Anderson has excellent feel scoring the ball, it’s a smooth nature with a repeatable jump shot as a 6-foot-5 shooting guard. He finished with a team high 15 points in the win.
