Los Angels Rams wide receiver Van Jefferson to have second knee surgery

The Los Angeles Rams and fans of the team received some not-so-good news on wide receiver Van Jefferson on Monday. Jefferson has been absent from the team’s offseason activities as he recovered from knee surgery he had early in the offseason. And according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Rams will be without the services of Jefferson a little longer as he will undergo a second procedure on his knee.

“Rams coach Sean McVay told reporters that wide receiver Van Jefferson will, in fact, have knee surgery tomorrow. He’s out a few weeks and TBD for Week 1,” wrote Rapoport via Twitter.

Wide receiver was a position at which the Rams had a stockpile of talent during the 2021 season. Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case as they wind down to the start of this football year.

Los Angeles traded wide receiver Robert Woods to the Tennessee Titans earlier in the offseason. And the star of the first half of the Rams’ Super Bowl victory, Odell Beckham Jr, has not re-signed with the team. Plus, he is also recovering from his offseason surgery to repair his ACL.

With Jefferson’s status questionable to start the season, look for second-year receiver Ben Skowronek and offseason acquisition Allen Robinson to pick up the slack in his absence.

Rams head coach Sean McVay delivers message to Odell Beckham Jr

The Los Angeles Rams are still resting atop the football world as the defending champions of the 2022 Super Bowl. Their head coach, Sean McVay, is trying to make sure he gets back one of the stars that helped lead the franchise on that run, Odell Beckham, Jr.

Check out the message he had for OBJ when NFL Network was visiting Rams’ training camp on Saturday evening.

“Guys that we were able to add. You lose big-time guys like an Andrew Whitworth. You lose a Von Miller. You know, hopefully, we’ll get Odell back at some point. If you’re out there Odell, I know you heard that. Okay,” McVay said in his interview with NFL Network’s Andrew Siciliano.

It’s no surprise that McVay and the Rams want their star receiver back. He was repeatedly getting open in the first half against the Cincinnati Bengals in the Super Bowl last year. Before he went down with an ACL injury in the first half, Beckham hauled in two catches for 52 yards and a touchdown. If he hadn’t gotten hurt, there’s no question the Rams likely would have won the Super Bowl by a more substantial margin. The Bengals’ secondary simply had no answer for him.
