Miami stars troll Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame following College Football Playoff win over Texas A&M
Just minutes after Miami topped Texas A&M to advance to the College Football Playoff quarterfinals, one of the Hurricanes’ stars took a moment to troll Notre Dame. Specifically, he called out Fighting Irish running back Jeremiyah Love.
Notre Dame was the last team left out of the playoff this season, with Miami sneaking into the field as the last at-large selection. And after proving their worth against the Aggies, the Hurricanes were ready to talk some smack.
“Hey Jeremiyah Love, you mad?” said offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa, as another player cheesed next to him. The shot was unmistakable.
Of course, the Fighting Irish are having a tough weekend, particularly as they watch teams they might have been included over struggle at various points. Miami didn’t score a touchdown until the fourth quarter on Saturday, though it would ultimately go on to win. On Friday night, nine-seed Alabama struggled early and dipped into a 17-0 hole. The Crimson Tide would later right the ship and win.
Still, it’s a tough beat for Notre Dame. The program didn’t make the playoff field, then quickly turned down a bowl bid when it learned its playoff fate.
As for Miami, things are on the upswing after a nervous couple weeks leading into the final College Football Playoff selections. But sure enough, the ‘Canes found themselves in the field.
Is Miami officially ‘back?’
Just hours after Nick Saban backpedaled and declared that the ’12th Man is real’ following some controversial comments on the Texas A&M crowd, Miami managed to silence the Aggies once and for all. A 10-3 win on the road in the first round of the College Football Playoff sent Miami into the quarterfinals.

And with it, a declaration from one of the top college football analysts. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
“The U is back,” wrote Booger McFarland on Twitter. Miami is ready to compete for championships again, presumably.
Carson Beck and company didn’t produce a ton of offense in a thoroughly hostile environment on Saturday, the same one that Saban claimed pumped in crowd noise during his days as a coach. But it didn’t matter.
Miami made the plays that would win the game, none more important than game-sealing interception by Bryce Fitzgerald in the end zone. The pick ended the game inside the final minute, allowing Beck to kneel the ball to end the contest.
And with that, Miami advanced to take on No. 2 Ohio State in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. It was not only a playoff win, but a chance to shake off the rust as the playoffs really get underway.
