Micah Robinson is the No. 82 player in the 2024 On3 150. After playing up with the Southern Assault travel program on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit, the four-star transferred to Mouth of Wilson (VA) Oak Hill Academy this offseason.

“I feel like I’ve gotten better playing around great players,” Robinson told On3. “At school like this, we’re getting players from all over that can really go. So I feel like my ability to play a role with all these players, as well as lead, is important. My game has grown a lot since I came here.”

On3 caught up with Micah Robinson after a recent game to talk about upcoming visits and get caught up on the 6-foot-6 wing forward’s recruitment.

“I’m planning official visits with Cal and TCU,” Robinson said. “With the season starting, we haven’t been able to nail down exact dates yet.”

Robinson talks recruitment

California: “Coach (Andrew) Francis came down to see us a few weeks ago. Ever since then, he’s been texting me and calling me every week. We have just been like building a relationship.

“He sees me as a player who can come in and help turn the program around. He sees my potential, and he’s taking the time to get to know me early.”

TCU: “They’re pretty much my hometown school, Fort Worth. I went to a few of their games last season, you know, because I was right there, a 40-minute drive. I really liked them last year; they were an underrated team, they knocked out some tough opponents. Like I was at their game whenever they beat Kansas.

“I like their playstyle; they’re grimy on defense, they get out and run and play fast. I really like them.”

“The other main three schools I am looking at setting visits with right now are Kansas, LSU, and Seton Hall,” Robinson said.

In Robinson’s words

“I’ll be looking for a home environment,” Robinson said. “A place where I feel like I’m needed and where I’ll be able to make an impact early because I feel like going to a school where I’m not really needed will never gonna do anything for me or the program.

“I want to go to a place where it’ll help me and the program; that will be the best decision for me. I want to go to a school that is going to help me get to where I want to go, and they use me to help them get to where they want to go. So, a place that is the best connection of both.”

Scouting report

Micah Robinson is a connective player. A wing forward who has a strong frame and explosive burst and enjoys doing the dirty work. Robinson is a multi-positional defender, able to slide his feet on defense, use his length in the passing lanes, or his strength to switch down and guard some fours. He is a good passer in transition, and he moves the ball well in the half-court. He can handle the ball in straight lines and attacks the rim with a purpose. Robinson needs to continue developing the jump shot, which is streaky right now. He also needs to work on his counters off the bounce and develop some more creativity in his handle. All in all, Robinson is a guy who fits in a lot of different roles and makes players around him better on both sides of the floor.
