Michigan trending to flip 4-star safety Jordan Young from Clemson
Michigan is gunning to sign a top-five recruiting class next week. After flipping Five-Star Plus+ quarterback and No. 1 overall prospect Bryce Underwood earlier this month, the Wolverines are looking to add more top blue-chippers to the fold in Ann Arbor down the stretch.
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, another top-100 prospect could be next to flip to U-M.
Monroe (N.C.) four-star safety Jordan Young committed to Clemson just 25 days ago on Nov. 2. While it was the Tigers that won out for his pledge initially, it’s Michigan that’s now trending to sign the 6-foot, 180-pounder.
On Wednesday, On3 VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong, as well as insiders EJ Holland and Ethan McDowell each logged picks in the On3 RPM in favor of the Wolverines flipping Young. Michigan was a finalist for Young and it also had him on campus right before his decision this fall.
Clemson and NC State were the more consistent programs in Young’s recruitment, though, leaving U-M a touch behind in the race. That may not matter come National Signing Day on Dec. 4.
“The environment in the Big House was absolutely electric,” Young told On3 after logging his official visit at the end of October. “The energy from the fans, the support from everyone around the program, and just the excitement of game day in Ann Arbor it’s something special.

Just 24 hours prior to Underwood’s monumental flip, his Belleville High teammate, four-star cornerback Elijah Dotson, flipped his commitment from Pittsburgh. He became the third blue-chip corner to join the class, flanking four-star Shamari Earls and four-star Jayden Sanders. Earls is On3’s No. 32 overall recruit.
Four-star safety Kainoa Winston joined the class is the No. 67 recruit in the On300 and has been in the class since June. He and Young would round out an elite DB class.
Young is the No. 172 overall prospect and No. 13 safety in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 6 player in North Carolina.
Michigan’s class currently ranks No. 8 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Along with Underwood, five-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola headlines the Wolverines’ class.
