Mississippi State lost the battle against Ole Miss on Friday, but it didn’t go down without poking at the Rebels’ sore spot. In the final minutes of the Egg Bowl, “Should I Stay or Should I Go” by The Clash echoed throughout Davis Wade Stadium, obviously referring to Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin‘s impending decision.

On Saturday, Kiffin will announce whether he’ll be returning to Ole Miss next season or accepting an offer to coach at LSU. Mississippi State fans reminded Kiffin of his dilemma during the game, chanting “LSU” at him repeatedly.

Unfortunately for Mississippi State fans, their jests weren’t distracting enough for the Bulldogs to upset Ole Miss. The Rebels were dominant, racking up 545 total yards of offense in the victory.

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss completed 23-of-his-34 pass attempts for 359 yards and four touchdowns, without throwing an interception. He was far from the Rebels’ only standout.

Running back Kewan Lacy was also spectacular, amassing a team-high 143 rushing yards and a touchdown on 27 carries. While Ole Miss fans were happy to see their team win the in-state rivalry game, Kiffin’s future is still at the forefront of everyone’s minds.

They aren’t alone. After the game, Lane Kiffin admitted he still hasn’t decided what he plans to do next season and will be considering his dilemma over the next 24 hours.

“No, I haven’t (made up my mind),” Kiffin told ESPN’s Taylor McGregor on Friday. “I’ve got a lot of praying to do to figure that out tomorrow, but right now, I’m just going to go enjoy these players. I told them last night, you’re going to win your 11th game, and all I want to do is experience joy watching you, and that’s what I’m about to do.”

With the win, Ole Miss finished the regular season 11-1, the most victories in a regular season in program history. Kiffin and his Rebels have a chance to make more history this weekend, as well.

If Alabama loses in the Iron Bowl on Saturday, Ole Miss will earn a berth in the SEC Championship game. The Rebels have never competed in an SEC title game. After Ole Miss’ win Friday, ESPN’s Marty Smith provided further details on the timeline for Kiffin’s announcement.

“I’m told the decision here will come tomorrow, but is expected to come later in the day,” Smith said.
“Tonight, he’s over in Tupelo at his son Knox’s state semifinal high school football game. So the thought is that meeting will happen later in the day tomorrow and we should have a resolution to this sometime tomorrow evening.”
