Former NFL linebacker Ricky Brown is expected to be named as Navy‘s next outside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. This comes several weeks after being hired by Tulsa as a defensive assistant and special teams coordinator for the Golden Hurricanes.

Brown spent two past two seasons as a quality control coach at Ohio State and Cincinnati, respectively. He began coaching in 2014 at USC as an assistant QC before moving on to Boston College — his alma mater — and Lafayette, where he coached linebackers for the Leopards.

Prior to coaching, Brown played in the NFL from 2006-2012 where he had two stints with the Oakland Raiders, Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots, where he was a part of the Super Bowl XLVII-winning roster.

Notre Dame expected to hire Virginia Tech’s Joe Rudolph as offensive line coach

Notre Dame is expected to hire Joe Rudolph as the new offensive line coach, according to On3’s Matt Zenitz.

Rudolph joined Virginia Tech prior to last season as the offensive line coach and run-game coordinator under Brent Pry. Prior to the Hokies, Rudolph coached at Wisconsin for seven seasons under Paul Chryst as the assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.

Rudolph’s coaching career started back in 2004 with Ohio State as a grad assistant for three years before going to Nebraska in 2007.

After Nebraska, Rudolph joined Wisconsin as the tight ends coach in 2008. After four seasons in Madison, Rudolph left for Pitt where he became the offensive coordinator for three seasons.

During the 2014 season, Rudolph became the interim head coach and lost his lone game.

He rejoined Wisconsin in 2015. Now, Rudolph will coach under second-year coach Marcus Freeman.
