Former Ohio State star Garrett Wilson hauled in the game-winning touchdown for the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon versus the Cleveland Browns. Trailing the Browns by six points, Joe Flacco led the Jets down the field after an onside kick recovery gave them the ball back with a minute remaining.

Flacco completed one pass to Wilson on the nine-play drive before capping it off with the touchdown throw to him with 22 seconds remaining.

On 3rd and 10 on the 15-yard line, the former Buckeye took off, crossed through the middle and caught the ball in traffic.

After picking off the Browns on their next drive, the Jets took a knee to clinch the 31-30 victory. It’s the team’s first win of the season after the 2021 season saw them notch just four of them.

The Jets’ recent history of poor play put them in the position to draft Wilson at No. 10 overall after Sauce Gardner in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Wilson catches first NFL touchdown versus Browns

Returning to Ohio to play the Cleveland Browns, the former Ohio State star tied the AFC showdown up at seven apiece by grabbing his first NFL touchdown in the first quarter.

Flacco completed a two-yard pass to Wilson for the score. On the day, the rookie wideout had eight catches for 102 yards and two touchdowns.

Wilson began his collegiate career in 2019, hauling in 30 receptions for 432 yards and five touchdowns as a freshman at Ohio State. He then caught 43 passes for 723 yards and six touchdowns in 2020, also adding two rushes for 67 yards. In his final year, Wilson caught 70 passes for 1,058 yards and 12 touchdowns, adding four rushing attempts for 76 yards and one more touchdown.

He also made an impact in the return game at Ohio State, returning 34 punts for 205 yards (six yards per return) in three seasons.
