Led by West Virginia quarterback commit Nicco Marchiol, Hamilton (AZ.) upset national powerhouse Bishop Gorman, 25-24, after trailing 14-7 with just 1:10 left in the game.

In 65 seconds, Hamilton scored a 46-yard field goal by Matthew Krneta, recovered two-straight onside kicks and two touchdown passes from Marchiol to Nick Switzer and Michael Masnus.

Nineteen seconds of game time after reducing the deficit to just one touchdown, Hamilton did the unthinkable.

With eight seconds left in the game, a bleeding and bruised Marchiol hit Switzer for a 22-yard touchdown. Marchiol sprinted around the edge and powered his way in on the ensuing two-point conversion to give Hamilton the stunning victory 25-24.

Bishop Gorman’s offensive efforts were led by 2023 running back William Stallings Jr., who carried the ball 24 times for 160 yards and a touchdown.

Bishop Gorman’s defense dominated the majority of the game, sacking Marchiol six times and picking him off once.

Last season, Marchiol threw for 1417 yards and 11 touchdowns, completing over 69% of his passes. Marchiol added 535 rushing yards and six touchdowns, averaging 7.3 yards per carry.

In his career, Marchiol has recorded 6247 passing yards and 63 touchdowns, completing over 65% of his passes. On the ground, Marchiol has rushed for 1073 yards and 19 touchdowns in his career.

Through three games of his senior season, Marchiol has led Hamilton to a 3-0 record. In three games, Marchiol has recorded 627 passing yards and nine touchdowns, to just one interception. On the ground, Marchiol has rushed for 141 yards and one touchdown.
