Alabama head coach Nick Saban and Ohio State head coach Ryan Day both made in-person visits Wednesday to Lehigh Acres (Fla.) Lehigh Senior, the high school of elite 2023 running back recruit Richard Young.

Young is the No. 27 overall recruit and No. 7 prospect in the state of Florida in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the second-best running back in the class after El Campo (Texas) four-star tailback Rueben Owens.

The Crimson Tide and Buckeyes, along with National Champion Georgia, are the top three teams in Young’s recruitment.

“All three schools win, all three have history at my position, and when I compare them to one another, they are so similar in what I am looking for,” Young told On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons.

Ohio State has one running back commit in the 2022 recruiting class in Memphis (Tenn.) Christian Brothers four-star prospect Dallan Hayden.

Hartford (Ala.) Geneva County five-star running back Emmanuel Henderson and Tyler (Texas) Tyler Legacy four-star running back Jamarion Miller are the two running back commits in the 2022 class.

The Buckeyes have three commits in the 2023 class — Dayton (Ohio) Wayne four-star interior offensive lineman Josh Padilla, Thompson’s Station (Tenn.) Independence four-star tight end Ty Lockwood and Titusville (Fla.) Cocoa four-star safety Cedrick Hawkins — but none of them are running backs. Day and his staff are planning on signing two running backs in the cycle.
