After a trick play by the Los Angeles Rams in the third quarter, Odell Beckham Jr passed Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray in a shocking statistic. His 40-yard pass completion to Cam Akers gave Beckham Jr. more passing yards in the game than Murray in over a half of game time.

The Rams picked up in the second half with the same success they had in the first half, driving down the field 75 yards for a touchdown to take a 28-0 lead. Part of the drive saw Beckham Jr. pass to Rams’ running back Cam Akers for 40 yards to bring them into the red zone in a trick play.

Although it was just one pass for a large gain, the pass highlighted just how much Murray struggled in the first half. Murray managed just 28 passing yards in the entire first half, giving a Rams wideout more passing yards than the Cardinals starting quarterback.

Murray struggled greatly on back-to-back possessions in the second quarter, throwing two interceptions. His first interception came backed up against their own end zone and led to an interception for a touchdown by David Long Jr.

The shocking statistic didn’t hold up for much longer however, as the Cardinals responded with a touchdown drive of their own, cutting the lead down to 28-8. Murray finally began to find a groove, passing for 46 yards on the drive as it was capped off by a two-yard rushing touchdown.

Scary moment for Budda Baker

In a very scary moment late in the game, Cardinals safety Budda Baker attempted to tackle Cam Akers on a rushing play. Akers finished the run with a strong hit into Baker, and the blow unfortunately caught him at a terrible angle. Baker immediately went nearly motionless on the field, as medical personnel rushed to his aid.

While players from both teams surrounded him, Baker was placed on a stretcher to be carted off the field. His injury was clear and a sobering moment for fans and players alike. As he was braced on the stretcher, Baker could be seen on camera moving his hands. In an additional piece of good news, Baker was reportedly able to communicate completely with medical personnel.

The hit itself was a clean hit by football standards, but the unfortunate injury was still the outcome. After the play, Akers proceeded to tell Baker to “stay down” without knowing that he was injured. Cardinals players stepped up to Akers in defense of their injured teammate as they exchanged words before Akers was aware of the severity of the injury.

After learning the extent of what had happened, Akers was seen praying for the injured Baker and came to wish him well as he was carted off the field. Baker was taken to a local hospital by ambulance while the game continued.
