Ed Ingram shares skills he's bringing to Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings drafted LSU Tigers offensive lineman Ed Ingram in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The Vikings took the former LSU star with the No. 59 overall pick and in his words, they’re are getting a “mauler.”
“My strengths are in the run game, I’ve always been dominant in the run game,” Ingram said in his introductory press conference with the team. “I feel like I’m just a natural, like, mauler. I feel like I can connect and communicate with each and everyone on the offensive line easily. My team, we’ve always communicated and my big thing was communication so, I’ll make sure everyone knows what to do and when to do it.”
Ingram was a four-year starter at LSU. He received second-team All-SEC honors after his senior season and got an invitation to the Senior Bowl. He started and played at multiple interior offensive line positions with the Tigers. However, Ingram played left guard in 2021 and started in 11 games.
Out of high school, Ingram was a four-star recruit and the No. 15 interior offensive lineman recruit in the nation from the class of 2017, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Ingram deflects question on previously dropped sexual assault case
Ed Ingram is in the NFL now but taking the next step has opened the door on his past. The new Viking did his best to deflect questions from reporters about his dropped aggravated and sexual assault charges during his introductory press conference.
“I mean right now, you know, I just kind of just want to focus on this. What’s going on right now,” Ingram said. “[I] just got drafted and there’s been a lot thrown at me. And a lot of friends and family congratulating me. It’s just a happy moment right now in my life.”
When he was 15, the now 23-year-old Ingram was accused of an incident with two sisters who were both under 14 years old. LSU suspended Ingram for the 2018 season after the charges were filed. However, they quickly reinstated him once they were dropped in 2019.
