Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes four-star running back Carsyn Baker has trimmed his list of top schools down to five. Ohio State is in that top group and the Buckeyes are making Baker a top priority at the RB position this cycle.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder has been to Columbus multiple times before and he’s got an official visit lined up for the weekend of June 13. Before he gets back to campus, though, Ohio State running backs coach Carlos Locklyn made his way to the Peach State to visit the four-star:

Baker announced a top five of Ohio State, Florida State, Georgia, Clemson and South Carolina. Florida is another program that’s made its way toward the top of his process and the Gators have locked in an official visit, too. Texas A&M is also in the mix.

Following a spring trip to OSU last month, though, Baker told On3’s Steve Wiltfong that the Buckeyes were at the top of his recruitment. His relationship with Locklyn is playing a big part in that.

“What continues to excite me about the relationship I’ve kept building with Coach Lock and the tradition they have there,” Baker said. “What makes Ohio State a great place is the brotherhood the tradition that Coach Day has built with the coaches and the great relationships I have.”

Ohio State is currently without an RB commit in its 2026 recruiting class — which currently ranks No. 3 in the nation, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The Buckeyes signed three running backs in the 2025 cycle, headlined by in-state four-star Bo Jackson.

Baker is the No. 219 overall prospect and No. 18 RB in the cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the No. 10 RB in the 2026 On300.

He put together a big junior campaign for Langston Hughes in 2024, rushing for 1,282 yards and 13 touchdowns, averaging nearly nine yards per rush, according to MaxPreps. The Panthers lost to Milton in the Georgia 5A state championship game, finishing the season with a 13-2 record. Hughes ranked as the No. 41 team in the nation and No. 6 team in the state, according to the On3 Composite.

“I am looking for a great culture with a great coaching staff and to play for coaches who can develop me,” Baker previously told On3.

Ohio State currently has 12 commits in its 2026 class, headlined by five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. and five-star safety Blaine Bradford. The Buckeyes are trending for multiple top prospects in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, including Baker. More on Ohio State’s recruiting class here.
