Houston North Shore four-star defensive lineman and Texas commit Kristopher Ross is playing Houston area foe Katy (Texas) Thompkins for a spot in the state quarterfinals.

Ole Miss defensive line coach Randall Joyner is in the crowd watching the game, and hoping it could lead to a flip down the line.

Both Oklahoma and the Rebels have been working to flip the four-star recruit for weeks, but Ross has so far remained steadfast in his commitment to the Longhorns.

He is the No. 193 overall recruit in the country, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3 rates him much higher as the No. 61 player in the 2022 On300 and as the ninth-best defensive lineman in the nation.

“Ross is an explosive, powerful lineman playing for one of the country’s best high-school programs in Houston North Shore,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power wrote over the summer. “The 6-foot-3, 280-pounder stuns opposing offensive linemen with his hands and closes quickly in finishing plays behind the line. You can see Ross’ athleticism on several occasions when he tracks down ball carriers from long distances. The Texas commit also doubles as one of the best shot put throwers in the Lone Star State.”

Where does Kristopher Ross fit in the Texas recruiting class?

Kristopher Ross is the eighth-highest ranked recruit in the Texas recruiting class, which is No. 10 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking.

The class has no five-star players, but does have 14 four-star recruits, led by Spearman (Texas) athlete Brenen Thompson, Bremond (Texas) Marlin defensive lineman Jaray Bledsoe and Aledo (Texas) safety Bryan Allen Jr.

Ole Miss has the No. 31 overall recruiting class in the nation with 12 commits. The Rebels top commit, Madison (Miss.) Germantown four-star defensive lineman Zxavian Harris, plays on the defensive line like Ross.

Ole Miss also has a commitment from Tupelo (Miss.) three-star EDGE Jacarius Clayton.
