Now that official visits are already taking place, the recruiting world has officially turned its eyes toward the Class of 2023. With a bevy of notable quarterbacks, a geographic diversity among the nation’s top players and plenty of other notable storylines, the 2023 cycle is shaping up to be one of the most interesting in recent memory. And, per usual, the players at the top of the class will be among the most highly recruited in the nation.

Following the recent release of an updated On300 ranking, a number of changes have happened in the On3 Consensus, including five new five-star prospects.

Checking in as the No. 23 overall prospect in the class is Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson defensive lineman Peter Woods. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Alabama has a 97% chance of landing Woods. Clemson, Florida and Oklahoma are the other teams on his final list. Woods recently visited Alabama. He has plans to take official visits to Clemson, Florida and Oklahoma this summer. Additionally, Woods plans to commit before his senior season.

Peter Woods Scouting Summary

“Peter Woods is a compact defensive lineman that creates disruption with first-step quickness and speed in pursuit. Smaller than most of his fellow top defensive line prospects at around 6-foot-2, 280 pounds. Highly productive and disruptive while starring for one of the more talented high school teams in the Southeast. Lines up inside and at end for Thompson High.

Furthermore, Peter Woods has some of the best play speed we’ve seen from a defensive lineman nationally. Runs like a linebacker in pursuit. Makes plays behind the line of scrimmage at a high clip. He elevated his play as a junior. Likely projects as a three-technique long-term. Lacks prototypical length for top prospects at the position.” – Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings
