Silsbee (Texas) four-star athlete Dre’lon Miller told On3’s Chad Simmons on March 13 that LSU and Texas A&M were “battling for the top spot.” According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, one of those programs now has a commanding lead for his commitment.

The Tigers’ odds to land Miller are now at 86.3%. That is following an expert prediction from On3 National Recruiting Analyst Sam Spiegelman.

Miller has an offer to play both football and basketball at LSU. He has visited Baton Rouge multiple times, most recently on March 6.

“Coach (Cortez) Hankton is cool and I really like him and Coach (Brian) Kelly,” Miller shared with Simmons. “They make me feel at home over there. Coach Hankton played with my dad in college, so we have that type of relationship and that connection helps a little. My dad knows if I went there that I would be in good hands.

“Coach Kelly is doing a great job with the program. He quickly turned things around. When I was there a few days ago, they let me know that they want me. They want to move me around and get me the ball.”

Miller is the No. 75 overall prospect and No. 4 athlete in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 14 player in Texas.

Right now, the Tigers’ 2024 recruiting class contains 11 players and ranks No. 10 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, as well as No. 6 in the SEC. LSU’s group currently has one athlete in Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes four-star Joseph Stone, the No. 239 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking.

Multiple schools are pushing for Miller

According to Miller, he plans to release his top schools around the end of junior year before taking his official visits. Texas A&M is one program still standing out to him.

“Being able to talk with Coach (Jimbo) Fisher all the time is different,” Miller said. “I know him really well and we have a different relationship. Then, I have a good relationship with most of the staff, I know a lot of the players and I love my feeling over there.”

Meanwhile, Miller is making his first visit to USC in April. He has already connected with head coach Lincoln Riley.

“I’m excited to see what California is all about,” Miller said. “I can’t wait to talk with Coach Riley in peason, learn about the program and see if I can fit in there. Coach Riley is a great coach and he gets his playmakers the ball, and it would be exciting to play for him. This visit will be big to see how I feel about them.”
