Pac-12 Football: Las Vegas updates odds to win 2022 conference title

Despite Utah’s historic appearance in the Rose Bowl and owning the 2021 Pac-12 Championship crown – a young, exciting new-look USC Trojans team has taken the college football by storm. For that, both teams come in with the best odds (+232) to win the conference.

Oregon sits right below the two favorites at +315, and aside from UCLA’s +900, the odds of any other team pulling a conference championship out of a hat is slim to none – but it would be hardly surprising if a dark horse program could pull off an improbable season. In fact, this time last year, Utah was a +1400 favorite to win the Pac-12 – and look what happened.

Here are the updated odds to win the Pac-12 in football this season, according to Las Vegas oddsmakers.

USC made some major moves this offseason to revamp the roster after the Clay Helton era came to an end in 2021. The Trojans brought in Lincoln Riley from Oklahoma, and he managed to bring quarterback Caleb Williams with him after he entered the transfer portal.

But Williams isn’t the only high-profile transfer to come in to USC. Former Oregon running back Travis Dye — the No. 20 transfer to hit the portal in 2022, according to the On3 Transfer Portal Rankings — and former Oklahoma wide receiver Mario Williams are also part of the roster. The Trojans notably (and controversially) brought in Pitt standout and star receiver Jordan Addison prior to the transfer deadline.

Oregon also saw a coaching change when Mario Cristobal departed for Miami. The Ducks moved to hire Dan Lanning away from Georgia, and he got to work, as well. Former Auburn quarterback Bo Nix is heading to Eugene via the transfer portal and the Ducks brought in the No. 11 recruiting class in the country from the Class of 2022, according to the On3 Consensus Team Rankings.

The Ducks built quite a foundation under Cristobal, especially after making the Pac-12 title game last year. Despite notably losing Dye to the portal, they still have some key players coming back from that team, led by linebacker Noah Sewell and offensive lineman TJ Bass.
