On this week’s Monday Night Football broadcast with the Manning brothers, Peyton Manning is making good on his bet. After his alma mater, Tennessee, fell to Ole Miss, Manning now has to wear a Rebel jersey for the first half of this Monday night broadcast.

Eli, a product of Ole Miss, had fun with Peyton all week ahead of a matchup between their alma maters. He first said Peyton “wimped out” on airing an alternate ESPN2 Manning Cast for the game, which the brothers have done for Monday Night Football this season; then, days later, he told his Twitter-less brother — on Twitter, of course — that if Ole Miss wins, Peyton has to wear an Ole Miss jersey on the next Manning Cast.

How Eli won

The game between the Tennessee Volunteers and the Ole Miss Rebels was tightly contested for most of the game. After scoring 17 straight points the Rebels had the largest lead of the night going up 24-9 midway through the second quarter. The Volunteers made it close late, scoring a touchdown to start off the fourth quarter making it 31-26. But after that drive, Tennessee failed to score on its final three possessions to lose the game.

The game did make news for another reason as well. Tennessee fans upset about calls in the game begin to hurl trash on the field. And at one point what appears to be a golf ball hit Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin. Eli took advantage of the situation to get a little shot in and Peyton’s expense. After the game, Manning jokingly accused his brother, Peyton, a Tennessee alumnus, of throwing the golf ball onto the field.

Peyton Manning is being a good sport about the situation. Although he has said the jersey his brother sent him might be a few sizes too small. Throughout his career, he had to run from all kinds of defenders trying to take him down. But on Monday, it’s good that he did not run from this for all the fans watching their broadcast tonight.
