Two SEC players led the way in week four in Pro Football Focus’s cornerback rankings. LSU Tiger Cordale Flott and Georgia Bulldog Kelee Ringo earned the top CB grades for their work versus Mississippi State and Vanderbilt, respectively.

Flott, a junior out of Saraland, Alabama, scored an 85.1, while Ringo, a redshirt freshman out of Tacoma, Washington, posted an 83.2.

PFF grades every snap of every game across college football and the pros. The grades take into account everything from interceptions to whether a player was in the right position to make a play.

Flott comes up big versus Bulldogs

Six-foot-2, 170-pound Cordale Flott came into Saturday’s game versus Mississippi State hot, turning in a top CB performance with several key plays.

On the Bulldogs’ first drive of the game, Flott, at nickel, forced a fumble on a pass intended for Malik Heath. Linebacker Damone Clark recovered the ball and returned it 35 yards.

During Mississippi State’s third series, the LSU Tiger went airborne to pick off the first pass of his career. Flott also had a career-high eight tackles (four solo) on Saturday.

The Tigers played Saturday’s game without All-American cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., making Flott’s top CB performance that much more impactful.

Kelee Ringo shines in first start for Georgia

The Georgia Bulldogs pitched a shutout versus Vanderbilt, 62-0, with the help of first-time starter Kelee Ringo. Ringo played an all-around solid game. The redshirt freshman nabbed his first interception of the season versus UAB in week two.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound corner had one tackle and two pass breakups versus the Commodores.

Ringo has played 84 snaps in coverage and received 11 targets with zero receptions allowed this season.

“Kelee has improved each week,” Smart said Saturday in Georgia’s postgame press conference. “He’s gained more confidence in our system. He’s cut down on his mental errors, and we think he’s going to be a good player. We’ve always thought that, and we’ve been trying to develop him and gain the confidence he needs.”

Georgia held Vanderbilt to 77 yards of offense on Saturday with Ringo’s help. The Bulldogs currently possess the No. 1 passing defense in the SEC, No. 2 in the country, allowing just 115.8 receiving yards per game.

A much taller task lies ahead in week five as the Bulldogs welcome Arkansas to Athens. The Razorbacks boast the No. 2 receiver in the SEC in 6-foot-3 junior Treylon Burks.
