The Pittsburgh Steelers have updated their injury report ahead of their Week 2 match-up against the Las Vegas Raiders. They have ruled one more player out and have listed three others as questionable.

Players ruled out for the Steelers

Second-year defensive tackle Carlos Davis will be out of Sunday’s game against the Raiders. Davis has been sidelined and limited in practice all week. In last week’s game against the Buffalo Bills, he appeared on 17 of the Steelers’ defensive snaps. He has recorded one tackle on the season. On defense, Pittsburgh is still without starting defensive end Stephon Truitt, who was placed on injured reserve at the beginning of this month. The Steelers currently have five players on injured reserve.

Questionable players

The Steelers currently have three players listed as questionable cornerback Joe Haden (groin), left inside linebacker Devin Bush (groin) and backup tight end Zach Gentry (ankle). Gentry found himself on the list after being limited in practice on Friday, which was the only day he was limited this week. He has one catch on the season.

Haden and Bush were also limited in practice on Friday. They both were key contributors on defense for the Steelers in their win at Buffalo last Sunday. For the game, Bush had a total of 10 tackles, six of which were solo, and had one forced fumble. Haden had five total tackles, three of them solos, and a forced fumble.

Replacing their starters

If Haden is unable to go for Pittsburgh they have two young corners in Justin Layne and James Pierre ready to fill in. In last week’s game, Pierre appeared in 68% of the team’s defensive snaps. He made the most of his time, recording seven tackles, six solo, and deflected a pass.

For linebacker, the likely replacement for Bush would be third-year linebacker out of Penn State, Marcus Allen. After being drafted by the Steelers in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL draft, Allen was moved from his college position of safety to the linebacker position. Against the Bills, he was in for 19 defensive snaps but failed to record a single tackle.

Sunday’s game will be a home game for the Steelers at Heinz Field. Kickoff time is scheduled for 1 pm EST.
