Drew Fielder burst onto the scene this summer with the West Coast Elite program on the UAA Next Circuit. The 6-foot-10 post averaged 10.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks during the UAA Championships.

Fielder, originally from Idaho, transferred this summer to Los Angeles (CA) So Cal Academy. He is On3’s No. 103 player in the 2023 class. On3 has Fielder ranked higher than any of the four major recruiting services.

Fielder has taken two official visits, Providence and Southern California. Let’s go through all the intel and rank the contenders for the four-star power forward.

1. Providence

Fielder’s visit to Providence was this weekend, where it has been between 75 and 80 for most of the weekend. Head coach Ed Cooley is coming off a season that saw him win national coach of the year, and he was able to see the archetype of how he would play in Cooley’s system

Providence’s chances: 90 percent

2. Southern California

Southern California has a good relationship with Fielder’s So Cal Academy. Head coach Andy Enfield has had success with players like Fielder, and they are a top-25 program that produces pros.

USC’s chances: 10 percent

Final thoughts

USC would make a lot of sense here, but coming off the season, Providence had shown the direction the program is heading. Fielder has a teammate, Garwey Dual, who is also going to Providence.

Noah Horchler is a skilled guy in the 6-foot-8-plus range who was utilized all over the floor, cutting to the basket, creating with the ball in his hands, and shooting threes. Fielder has a lot of those sesame traits.

It is the front nine golf party this weekend, one of the greatest traditions, for students, at Providence. With the great weather included, it was a chance to experience what student life at the Big East program is like.

Fielder joins Dual as the two commitments in Providence’s 2023 class.
