Record two-year run in MLB Draft shows Link Jarrett's impact on FSU roster

The number of players selected in the Major League Baseball Draft isn’t the ultimate barometer of the strength of a college program, but it is a clear indication of the amount of talent accumulated and how those players have been developed.
And the number of Florida State Seminoles selected in the 2024 and ’25 drafts speaks volumes about the job Link Jarrett is doing as head coach.
With seven players selected on Monday, Florida State established a new single-season school record with 11 picks in the 2025 Draft. That breaks the previous FSU mark of 10 players selected in the 1995 draft — a record that stood for three decades.
It’s also worth noting that two of the Seminoles drafted in ’95 were selected well after the 20th round; Danny Kanell went in the 25th round, and Randy Hodges was selected in the 34th. The current MLB Draft only includes 20 rounds.
And with eight players selected in last year’s MLB Draft, Florida State now has had 19 selections in the last two years. That’s also the best stretch in school history, and it beats the mark of 16 draft picks in 2017-18.
And again, those two Florida State squads benefited from a much longer draft process. Nine of the 16 selections in those two years came after the 20th round.

FSU’s impressive draft class of 2025 includes pitcher Jamie Arnold in the first round; shortstop Alex Lodise and pitcher Cam Leiter in the second; outfielder Max Williams in the third; second baseman Drew Faurot in the fourth; pitcher Peyton Prescott in the fifth; pitcher Joey Volini in the sixth; pitcher Evan Chrest in the 15th; and three players — outfielder Gage Harrelson, catcher Jaxson West and pitcher Maison Martinez — in the 16th.
With those 11 selections, Florida State tied for the most of any team in the country this season.
The Seminoles also far outpaced the draft production of all of their rivals in the state and conference.
Miami had two players drafted this year, and Florida had six — with none of those Gators going in the first five rounds. Virginia had seven players selected, while Louisville and N.C. State both had six. North Carolina and Duke each produced four draft picks, while Georgia Tech had three, and Duke delivered two.
