New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has been the subject of injury rumors following an extended stay in the medical tent Sunday afternoon. During the third quarter of the Saints’ 27-25 loss against the Atlanta Falcons, met with medical staff on the sideline.

With rumors about Alvin Kamara’s injury status moving forward, the Saints worked out three running backs this week. Saints insider Nick Underhill reports Kerryon Johnson, Rodney Smith and Josh Adams participated in the precautionary workout.

The Saints also recently added veteran Mark Ingram in a trade with the Houston Texans.

Kamara’s role within the Saints offense has never been more important, with starting quarterback Jameis Winston out with an ACL tear and wide receiver Michael Thomas still out with continued injury complications which kept him out all season.

He has 530 rushing yards with three touchdowns, adding 310 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 2021.

New Orleans Saints injury updates

The New Orleans Saints are desperate for help at wide receiver. Still, they’ve managed to notch victories without one of their best players in Michael Thomas.

After originally expecting to return to the Saints halfway through the season, Thomas revealed he suffered a setback. Unfortunately, the setback will keep Thomas out for the remainder of the 2021 season.

Earlier this month, Michael Thomas released a statement on his injury status and future with the Saints through social media.

“I’ve always been a man of faith and these past few months my faith has been truly tested. As many of you know, early last season I injured my ankle and worked extremely hard over the next few months to get back in time to finish the season. Unfortunately the rehab didn’t go as planned and earlier this off-season it was apparent I would need to have a procedure to repair the injury.

“Since then, the team and I have worked diligently, day and night to rehab and get me back on the field. Unfortunately, there has been another small set back which we will have to address. To my displeasure, I will not be able to make it back in time for this season but will do everything in my power to get back to the player I have always been. I know God doesn’t make mistakes so I will continue to follow in his path, and can’t wait to be back on the field in front of the best fans on the planet.”
