Robert Griffin III‘s NFL career might be over, but the former Baylor football star showcased some of the athleticism that won him the 2011 Heisman Trophy during Week 1’s Monday Night Football pregame show, racing a hawk – yes, a hawk – and winning.

Griffin, who was in the NFL until 2020, has since joined ESPN as a college football an NFL broadcaster. He provides the NFL and CFB with pregame coverage, and on occasion steps into the booth to call games.

The hawk, representing the Seattle Seahawks, is the host of the opening Monday Night Football game of the season. They’re hosting their own former Super Bowl-winning quarterback in Russell Wilson and his new team, the Denver Broncos.

Guests announced for Manningcast ahead of first Monday Night Football of NFL season

Saquon Barkley, Joel McHale and Shannon Sharpe will be the first guests of Peyton and Eli Manning’s ESPN show Manningcast’s 2022 season. The show will coincide with the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks Monday Night Football matchup.

Barkley is coming off a stellar season-opening performance, rushing for 164 yards on a 9.1 ypc average and a touchdown – good for tops in the NFL – in the New York Giants’ 21-20 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

The former Penn State star dominated on Sunday afternoon and showed everyone that he’s still got the same juice that at one point, propelled him to becoming one of the best running backs in the league. His career has been slowed by numerous injuries, but it’s safe to say Barkley looks better than ever before.

Joel McHale, an actor best known for his role in Community along with Ted and various other films, will join following Barkley. FOX Sports’ co-host of Undisputed and former Denver Broncos great Shannon Sharpe will be the final guest of the night for the Manning brothers. The show is set to begin two minutes prior to Monday Night Football’s broadcast.
