SEC announces awards following Week 12 of college football

Following an exciting Week 12 of college football action, the SEC has announced their weekly honors, which features a heavy contingency from the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Hogs earned bowl eligibility with the 42-27 win over Ole Miss on Saturday, and now they have the SEC honors to show for it as well.

Other SEC honors went to the South Carolina Gamecocks after their shock upset of the No. 5 Tennessee Volunteers, as well as Georgia, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss.

SEC Week 12 honors

Co-Offensive Players of the Week: South Carolina QB Spencer Rattler, Arkansas RB Raheim Sanders

In the upset win over the Vols, Spencer Rattler tossed 30-of-37 passes for 438 yards and a school-record six touchdowns with no interceptions. Those numbers were all career-highs for Rattler and the 438 yards is now the fourth-most in a single game in Gamecocks history.

Raheim “Rocket” Sanders dashed for 232 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries on Saturday. It was the first 200+ yard game of his career.

Defensive Player of the Week: Arkansas LB Drew Sanders

On the defensive side for Arkansas, former Alabama LB Drew Sanders had 10 tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery and 0.5 tackles for loss. He currently leads the SEC in sacks with 8.5 on the season.

Special Teams Players of the Week: Georgia PK Jack Podlesny, Vanderbilt LS Wesley Schelling

Jack Podlesney and Wesley Schelling were both critical parts of their teams’ wins on Saturday. Podlesny drilled all three of his field goals and knocked down his only PAT in the 16-6 win. Schelling recovered a muffed punt for a touchdown in the victory over Florida.

Freshman Player of the Week: Ole Miss RB Quinshon Judkins

Ole Miss running back Quinshon Judkins has dominated the SEC freshman award week in and week out. Despite the Rebels’ loss, he had 214 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries. The rushing total set a new record for Ole Miss.

Offensive Line Players of the Week: South Carolina LT Jaylen Nichols, Arkansas C Ricky Stromberg

Jaylen Nichols had no quarterback pressures or sacks in Week 12, grading out at 90 percent for the game on Saturday.

Making his 43rd career start for the Hogs, Ricky Stromberg kept quarterback KJ Jefferson clean and paved the way for Sanders’ record day.

Defensive Line Player of the Week: Georgia DT Nazir Stackhouse

Nazir Stackhouse helped the Bulldogs hold Kentucky to 89 yards rushing while accumulating five tackles, including 0.5 tackles for loss.
