Week 6 SEC Players of the Week

Cooffensive Players of the Week: Will Rogers, QB, Mississippi State | Jonathan Mingo, WR, Ole Miss

Rogers threw for 395 yards with 31 completions and three touchdowns on Saturday, breaking the SEC’s career completions record. Meanwhile, Jonathan Mingo broke a record of his own, hauling in an Ole Miss single-game record 247 yards with two touchdowns on nine catches.

Defensive Player of the Week: Jaydon Hill, CB, Florida

Jaydon Hill nabbed two interceptions versus Missouri this weekend, including a 49-yard interception returned for a touchdown.

Special Teams Player of the Week: Chase McGrath, PK, Tennessee

Chase McGrath was 4-for-5 on field goals and hit all four of his extra points in Tennessee’s win over LSU.

Freshmen of the Week: Branson Robinson, RB, Georgia

Bulldogs freshman Branson Robinson had the first score of his career on Saturday and posted 12 carries for 98 yards.

Offensive Lineman of the Week: Jovaughn Gwyn, OL, South Carolina

Jovaugh Gwyn played a clean game for SC this weekend, not allowing any pressures or quarterback sacks while recording two pancake blocks and a pair of knockdowns.

Defensive Lineman of the Week: Byron Young, DE, Tennessee

Byron Young had one of the best games yet for the Vols in Week 6, posting 2.5 sacks and tying his career high with 2.5 tackles for loss.

Will Rogers sets new conference career completions record

Will Rogers completed his 922nd pass since joining the Bulldogs on Saturday — passing the previous SEC record set by former Georgia Bulldog great Aaron Murray in 2013.

It only took Rogers 28 games to break the record, whereas Murray took 58 games, according to ESPN Stats & Info. After the Arkansas game, Rogers’ total is now 946 passes in his career, with plenty of time left to put the record out of reach of most potential contenders.
