In the past three seasons, there have been six national championships handed out in college football and baseball. All six belong to SEC schools, with the conference continuing to dominate their way through college athletics. Even more impressive? All have come from different programs.

Ole Miss baseball was the latest to get the crown, defeating Oklahoma in two games at the College World Series. The Rebels were the last team into the NCAA Tournament but went on a postseason tear. Just a year after their in-state arch-rival, Mississippi State, hoisted the baseball trophy, it was head coach Mike Bianco’s turn.

On the football side, Georgia defeated another SEC team to claim their program’s first national championship since 1980. Nick Saban and Alabama were the culprits as the Bulldogs finally got over the Crimson Tide hump as Kirby Smart beat his former boss.

The official SEC Twitter account decided to take a victory lap on the conference dominating both college football and baseball. After the SEC Network posted a graphic displaying all of the national championships, a simple quote tweet summed up how everyone feels about the achievement.

Vanderbilt was the first to get the ball rolling, winning the College World Series back during the summer of 2019. Of course, there was no CWS for the 2020 season thanks to COVID-19 but even with a two-year gap, the SEC was able to stay on top with Mississippi State.

Winning in football is nothing new to the SEC but in the BCS/CFP era, three different teams have never won three in a row from within the conference. Outside of Georgia and a historic run from Joe Burrow and LSU, Alabama was able to snag another during another COVID-19 restricted year. Playing a schedule with only SEC opponents, the Crimson Tide won the program’s 18th national championship.
