Stanford forward Harrison Ingram has withdrawn his name for the 2022 NBA Draft, he announced Saturday via Twitter. His decision comes just four days before the deadline to withdraw on June 1.

Ingram was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year this past season after averaging 10.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and three assists across 32 games. He was projected to be a late second round pick, so his decision to return for another year makes sense. However, he still gained valuable experience by participating in the NBA Combine and performing in front of pro scouts.

Ingram was a four-star recruit and the No. 25 overall player in the 2021 class according to On3 Consensus. The Dallas native committed to Stanford over offers from Memphis, Texas, UCLA and several others. His return will certainly give the Cardinal a big boost next season as they hope to improve upon a 16-16 finish.

Prior to joining Stanford, Harrison Ingram was selected to the USA roster for the FIBA U19 World Cup. He was also a McDonald’s All-American selection, marking the second straight year the Cardinal recruited such a player after they signed Ziaire Williams in the 2020 class. Williams, however, opted to stay only one season before being drafted 10th overall this past year.

This year wasn’t quite as successful, as the Cardinal signed just one player — Jaylen Thompson — among the top 100. They did, however, add sharpshooting Davidson transfer guard Michael Jones. With Ingram coming back, Stanford now also returns four of its five starters from a year ago. With that in mind, they’ll hope to claw their way back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2014.

At the same time, Ingram will hope to improve his draft stock and rise up boards by the end of his sophomore season.
