Taison Chatman is the No. 60 player in On3 2023 rankings. The 6-foot-4 guard from Minneapolis (MN) Totino-Grace claimed over 15 offers throughout his recruitment.

This summer, with his D1 Minnesota program on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit, Chatman averaged 17.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. He shot 44.0 percent from three and 90.0 percent from the free throw line.

In mid-July, the four-star announced his top five schools; Xavier, Kansas, Minnesota, Virginia, and Ohio State.

Chatman took junior year official visits to Xavier, Kansas, and UConn.

With things winding down, let’s go through all the intel and rank the contenders for four-star guard Taison Chatman.

1. Ohio State

This visit is the only senior year official visit he has taken and/or planned to this point. Chatman openly talked about his excitement to get on the visit and learn more about the Ohio State program and their plans for him. He also spoke about the pros who have come out of the program.

Ohio State’s chances: 85 percent

2. Minnesota

Chatman has taken an unofficial visit to Minnesota. They are the hometown program, and he consistently speaks about the amount of love he gets from the fan base. He has thought about playing in front of the state he grew up in.

Minnesota’s chances: 10 percent

3. Kansas

Kansas is the defending national champion; this is something Chatman consistently brings up. The Jayhawks offered in late April, and Chatman quickly had the visit scheduled for June. By all accounts, he had a great time on the visit.

Kansas’s chances: 5 percent

Final thoughts

As you can see by the percentages above, intel suggests Ohio State is the program in the lead here. The only question was, where would the scholarship come from? Leading into this weekend’s official visit, Ohio State was at its allotment of 13. This morning, George Washington, III announced he was de-committing from the Buckeyes, which opened up a scholarship.

Recruitment slowed down a little for Chatman with an injury that kept him out in July. Sources said Ohio State had a commanding lead heading into the visit. On the visit, the Buckeyes seemed to check the necessary boxes.

Watch and see if Chatman sets an official visit to Minnesota, but as intel suggests, they may not have enough to overcome Ohio State’s lead. He has not come out with an exact commitment day, but he has maintained he would like to commit in the fall.
