More on Texas vs. Kansas State

Texas got a big win over No. 11 Baylor Monday. With the win, it kept the Big 12 Championship hopes alive.

“We’ve got God on our side right now, so we give him all the glory right now in terms of what we are doing and giving ourselves strength in our guys,” head coach Rodney Terry said postgame. “We take it one game at a time. We had 40 minutes in front of us. We knew we had a really, really good Baylor team coming in that is well-coached. Scott (Drew), got a lot of respect for him and his program. That’s all we had on our mind today in terms of really trying to finish out January.

“We called it the grind. We have embraced it all year long. As we head into February, which really is a month of separation — as you head into Separation Month, you have gotta continue to try to improve in areas where you need to improve. For us, we really placed a high emphasis yesterday on our defense, guarding harder, really trying to take a lot of pride in getting stops. We needed consecutive stops that we weren’t able to get over in Tennessee. But really proud of our guys, the way they responded to the challenge yesterday.”

Kansas State lost on the road to rival Kansas in its last game. The Wildcats split meetings with the Jayhawks this year.

However, the Wildcats have a win over Texas already this season. Back on Jan. 3, the Wildcats beat Texas 116-103 on the road.
