Class of 2023 three-star Isaiah Manning tells On3 he’s down to six schools — Xavier, TCU, Oklahoma State, Harvard, Columbia, and Kansas State.

The 6-foot-7 forward out of Mansfield (Texas) Legacy also received offers from Texas A&M, Saint Louis, Rice, and others.

Manning ranks as the No. 149 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also ranks as the No. 29 power forward, and the No. 12 recruit in the state of Texas.

TCU and Columbia hosted Manning for official visits in June. He’s also been to Oklahoma State unofficially. Xavier will host him on August 1st for his third official, and he’s working on finalizing a date for Kansas State in late August.

Manning breaks down finalists

Xavier: “Coach (Sean) Miller has coached a number of NBA players and a bunch of guys that just got drafted when he was over at Arizona. He knows what it takes to bring guys to the NBA so that was really enticing for me. That, combined with the rest of the coaching staff, looks like a really good fit for me and somewhere I can thrive and be successful.”

TCU: “TCU was my first high major offer about a year ago. I have a really good relationship with Coach (Jamie) Dixon and his staff. My dad works at the school so it’s close to home. I’d get a lot of support from the community if I was to go there. I feel like I fit in with their playing style. They have needs for perimeter shooters and the kind of things that I like to do with my game. So there is an opening for me to come in and play really soon there.”

Oklahoma State: “Oklahoma State is at the top of my list because I feel like they have the best coaching staff in all of college basketball. Mike Boynton does a really good job of having a family vibe over there and the guys are really connected. One of my old high school teammates is up there too, Quion Williams. So it would kind of add to that element, being over there in Stillwater, with a real team-first mindset from everybody involved.

Harvard and Columbia: “With Harvard and Columbia I feel it’s the same thing for both. The connections that come with an Ivy league school is unmatched anywhere else. The amount of relationships you can develop with the alumni, combined with the value the degree is something you can’t find in most places.”

Kansas State: “Kansas State is a completely new coaching staff. Coach (Jerome) Tang came over from Baylor and Coach (Ulric) Maligi came over from Texas. They’ve both believed in me since the beginning, when they were at their old jobs. They’ve always told me what they can imagine me being at the next level. So just their trust in me and willingness to watch and allow me to develop underneath their program is a big thing for me.”
