2022 Wichita (Kan.) Dream City Christian shooting guard, Shaedon Sharpe, has announced when he’ll be making his commitment.

“I will be announcing my commitment on Sept. 7th at 7 PM (EST),” tweeted Sharpe.

Sharpe is the top-ranked prospect in the country, per On3.

The news comes on the heels of Sharpe visiting Kentucky for the second time, according to Jack Pilgrim of Kentucky Sports Radio.

“Shaedon Sharpe is currently on a visit to Lexington, source tells KSR” said Pilgrim on August 30th.

Earlier this month, Sharpe narrowed his recruitment down to five options: Kentucky, Oklahoma State, Arizona, Kansas, and G-League Ignite.

While Sharpe is coming off a visit to Arizona last weekend and was scheduled to visit Kansas, he cancelled the visit in favor of visiting Lexington for the second time. Sharpe also plans on officially visiting Oklahoma State.

“People have been penciling me in with Kentucky.”

Sharpe took an official visit to Kentucky back in June. He was offered by the Wildcats in December 2020.

Additionally, Sharpe previously told ESPN that though speculation is that he winds up at Kentucky, it is not a done deal.

“People have been penciling me in with Kentucky, and I’m honestly not sure where that’s coming from.” Sharpe said. “Maybe it’s because Shai Gilgeous-Alexander went there from Uplay and was one and done. It’s true they were the only official visit I’ve taken so far, because all the other schools asked to wait until students were back on campus and football games were being played.

“No one really knows anything about my situation besides my family and Dwayne.”

Sharpe burst on the scene last summer, averaging 22.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 28 minutes over 12 games at the EYBL circuit.

“Kentucky has always been one of the top programs.”

Kentucky holds one commitment in the 2022 class from four-star guard Skyy Clark. The Wildcats remain involved in the recruitments of five-stars Derek Lively II, Cason Wallace and Adem Bona.

Lively is ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the country behind Sharpe.

Lively previously praised Kentucky while talking to Kentucky Sports Radio.

“Kentucky has always been one of the top programs,” Lively said. “They’ve always competed, they’ve always brought great energy. That’s something I could definitely be a part of. If I were to go there, we would win, and that’s just something I’d love to be a part of.”

If Kentucky can receive commitments from two of the top recruits in the nation, a return to greatness seems imminent for the Wildcats.
