Castaic (Calif.) Southern California Academy four-star recruit Isaiah Miranda tells On3 he’s down to eight schools, in no order: USC, UCLA, Oregon, Louisville, Georgetown, Texas, UConn, and Rhode Island.

The 7-foot-0 power forward originally from Rhode Island has officially visited USC and Georgetown and unofficially visited UCLA and UConn. Louisville will be Miranda’s next official visit. He also hopes to visit Texas, Rhode Island, and Oregon.

Miranda also received offers from Memphis, Oklahoma State, Maryland, Providence, Syracuse, and others.

It should also be noted that Texas has not yet offered the big man.

Miranda ranks as the No. 28 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. On3’s evaluators are slightly higher on him, ranking him as the 22nd best overall player in the class.

Miranda breaks down each of his top schools

USC: “USC is very good at development with their bigs and I like how their play style is fast and intense.”

UCLA: “Another program I feel is very good at developing bigs and has elite facilities and coach (Mick) Cronin coaches hard and gets guys ready for the pros.”

Oregon: “Oregon was one of my childhood dream schools and the young guys coming in are very good. I haven’t been on a visit yet so I don’t really know about their facilities.”

Louisville: “Their coaching staff has a history of getting guys pro-ready and developing them at an elite level. I’ll be taking a visit there very soon so I’m excited to get down there.”

Georgetown: “I really like the coaching staff and the vibe I get from them and the focus on bigs in the program and the history of bigs.”

UConn: “Coach (Dan) Hurley is a great coach and really challenges his guys. It’s a chance to play close to home and for a historical program.”

Texas: “They have a great history of developing big guys as a program and coach (Chris) Beard is a good coach. I want to get down there soon to see the campus.”

Rhode Island: “The chance to play for my home state and in front of my family and friends is something really intriguing to me. Plus my AAU teammate Sebastian Thomas is the point guard and we always had great chemistry.”

Scouting Summary

Isaiah Miranda has a lengthy and fluid frame. He is very well coordinated with the fluidity to turn and run and the pop to get his elbow above the rim. Standing as a legit footer, the way he moves is what sticks out the most. He is still raw in his game as he is still growing and figuring out who he is as a player. He has natural touch, can knock down a three off the catch, and makes free throws. Miranda will need to continue adding strength and slowing down the game, but the ceiling is very high here. – On3’s Jamie Shaw, National Recruiting Analyst
