Jordan Butler is On3’s No. 30 player in the 2023 class. The 6-foot-10 forward already has a state championship under his belt and is the featured player for LaMelo Ball’s Puma sponsored AAU program.

“I’m a versatile player, a modern stretch-four,” Butler told On3. “I can shoot the ball and create my own shot. My physicality has improved; I’m playing a lot stronger now, with a stronger base. I like watching Joel Embiid and Anthony Davis. They aren’t stuck on the block; they attack downhill and create.”

Young for his grade, his older brother John got invited to the 2022 NBA Draft Combine, and his mother played at South Carolina in the early 2000s. On3 caught up with Jordan Butler at The Circuit’s Battle of North Carolina this weekend to get the latest in his recruitment.

“Right now, I have offers from Auburn, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Missouri, Wake Forest, and Georgia Tech. I’ve been on an Auburn official visit of those offers, and I have taken an unofficial visit to Georgia.”

Butler talks recruitment

Auburn: “Jabari Smith and Walker Kessler are not your average big men; they do a little bit of everything. I like that. I think that fits my game.”

Georgia: “I had a lot of interaction with them, with the old staff. They liked my versatility, and I liked how he broke the game down. They played hard.”

South Carolina: “I have not been on campus to South Carolina yet, but I will. It felt good to know that right when he came on campus; he was trying to get to me and give me that offer. I was very familiar with the program with Frank Martin and what they did. I don’t know much about what Coach (Lamont) Parris does, but I am looking forward to getting to know what he does.”

Missouri: “Coach CY (Charleton Young) coached at Florida State. My brother was there, and we built a relationship. As soon as he went up to Missouri, one of the first things he did was offer me. I am planning on going on an official visit real soon. I plan to get to know all about that program.”

Virginia Tech texts me a lot. NC State and Maryland hit me up every now and then. A few other schools are in contact haven’t offered too,” Butler said.

Butler’s take

“I’m looking for a team who knows how to use and produce versatile players,” Butler said. “I don’t want to just sit on the block; I can stretch the floor, put the ball on the floor, and go make plays.”

On3’s take

Jordan Butler has a very projectable 6-foot-10 frame. He has good length and moves very fluidly. The skill-set is what sticks out immediately. He can knock down jump shots from three and get to his spots off one and two dribbles. The strength will need to continue to come, but he is young for his grade, which should continue to add naturally. Butler has good footwork in the mid-post, and he has a go-to on the block over his left shoulder. There is continued progression here with current production and a lot of upside to go.
