Top-5 recruit King Gibson sets visit to NC State

King Gibson, On3’s No. 4-ranked recruit in the 2027 cycle, is set to visit NC State unofficially on June 5, a source tells On3.
The 6-foot-4 point guard is originally from Burlington, North Carolina, and finished his high school season at Montverde (FL) Academy. This summer, Gibson is playing with the Team United program on Nike’s EYBL Circuit, where he is averaging 16.9 points and 3.9 assists on 57.1 percent shooting from three.
Gibson has previously taken unofficial visits to Georgia and South Carolina. In a recent interview with On3, Gibson spoke about NC State.
“We’ve been in contact some with Coach (Will) Wade already. So, I want to go on that visit, get down there and talk to him some, and see what he has to offer. He tells me that he thinks I could be really good if I keep working. That’s good to hear coming from a coach like him.”

Gibson was a standout this season at the famed Hoop Hall Classic, where his Montverde team played against Hurricane (UT) Utah Prep.
“You would never know that Gibson was just a sophomore watching him play. The 6-foot-5 guard plays with a pace and a pose that tells you he is not afraid of the moment. Gibson has a good size and played predominantly on the ball for Montverde (FL) Academy. On3’s No. 8 ranked player in the class finished Sunday at the Hoophall Classic with 8 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks while going 4-8 from the field.”
