Top unsigned 2023 football recruits

The Early Signing Period has come and gone and while most of the nation’s top prospects have signed with their schools, several others have not. Here are the top 20 unsigned commits in the On3 Consensus rankings following the Early Signing Period:

5-star CB Cormani McClainMiami commit
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 3
The Skinny: McClain proved to be the shocker of National Signing Day as he opted not to sign with Miami as originally planned. While he remains committed to the Canes, Colorado and Deion Sanders have also entered the mix as Sanders tries to land the nation’s top cornerback for the second year in a row.

5-star athlete Nyckoles Harbor – Uncommitted
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 18
The Skinny: A talented two-way player, Harbor plans to sign in February. He has taken official visits to Maryland, Michigan and South Carolina but may also take visits to Georgia, LSU or Miami before he makes his decision. Michigan currently holds the lead for his commitment according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

5-star TE Duce Robinson – Uncommitted
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 21
The Skinny: It seems to be a two-horse race between Georgia and USC to land a commitment from Robinson. While USC has been the long-time favorite, Georgia appears to be firmly in the mix to make things interesting. He’s also taken official visits to Alabama and Texas.

4-star CB Rodrick Peasant – Uncommitted
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 94
The Skinny: USC again seems to be the heavy favorite to land a commitment from Peasant as he made seven unofficial visits to the Trojans with the last coming on Oct. 1. During that stretch, he also took official visits to Boston College, California and Oregon. Peasant told Chad Simmons on Oct. 16 that he’s in rush to make a decision and that schools like Miami, Michigan and Penn State are under consideration for his final two official visits.

4-star RB Jeremiah Cobb – Committed to Auburn
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 122
The Skinny: Cobb has been committed to Auburn since July 1 and plans to sign with the Tigers in February with the rest of his high school teammates.

4-star athlete Mikal Harrison-Pilot – Uncommitted
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 124
The Skinny: Harrison-Pilot has taken official visits to TCU, Texas, Houston and California but it appears that the Horned Frogs and Longhorns are the two favorites to land a commitment from him. Harrison-Pilot’s visited Texas more than any other school (seven times), but College Football Playoff-bound TCU is leading for his pledge according to the latest On3 RPM projection.

4-star TE Walker Lyons – Uncommitted
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 128
The Skinny: Lyons decommitted from the Cardinal after head coach David Shaw stepped down but he recently returned to Stanford for an official visit and they are the current favorite to land his commitment. Other schools to receive officials from Lyons are USC, UtahBYU and Georgia. Lyons previously shared that he will announce his final decision in February.

4-star LB Jelani McDonald – Uncommitted
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 137
The Skinny: Since he decommitted from Oklahoma State on Oct. 25, Texas has been the heavy favorite to get a commitment from McDonald. He recently took an official visit to Austin and while TCU is also in the mix, Texas remains the leader in his recruitment.

4-star WR Raymond Cottrell – Committed to Georgia
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 151
The Skinny: Cottrell has been committed to Georgia since last November after flipping from Florida but Texas A&M entered the mix this year as he took official visits in June and September. Even with that push, Cottrell remains solid with his commitment to the Bulldogs.

4-star TE Shamar Easter – Committed to Arkansas
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 152
The Skinny: The top-ranked prospect in Arkansas, Easter first committed to the Razorbacks since last August. However, South Carolina entered the picture in recent weeks heavily following a favorable visit the weekend before Christmas. Easter will take one final official visit to Arkansas on Jan. 15 before making his final decision.

4-star DL Zavion Hardy – Committed to South Carolina
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 209
The Skinny: Hardy has been committed to South Carolina since August 21 but did not sign with the Gamecocks on National Signing Day. According to the On3 RPM, South Carolina remains the heavy favorite to keep his commitment.

4-star WR Taeshaun Lyons – Committed to Washington
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 218
The Skinny: Lyons was a late commitment for Washington’s 2023 class choosing the Huskies over MiamiOregon and Notre Dame on Dec. 16.

4-star safety Warren Roberson – Committed to TCU
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 222
The Skinny: Roberson has been committed to the Horned Frogs since October 31 choosing TCU over FloridaOklahoma StateSMU and USC.

4-star LB Andrew Harris – Uncommitted
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 300
The Skinny: Harris decommitted from UCF alongside his brother Michael on Dec. 18. The two figure to be a package deal and schools like Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State and Pittsburgh are all in the mix.

4-star DL Ashton Porter – Uncommitted
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 303
The Skinny: Porter decommitted from Northwestern on Oct. 16. He will be committing on Jan. 3 and choosing between HoustonMichigan StateMississippi StateOregon and TCU. Oregon is the heavy favorite to land his commitment according to the latest On3 RPM projection.

4-star WR Malik Elzy – Uncommitted
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 321
The Skinny: Since he backed off of his commitment from Cincinnati on Oct. 18, Illinois has been the favorite trending fro a commitment from Elzy. He last took an official visit to Illinois on June 4 and the Fighting Illini were Elzy’s runner-up when he originally committed to the Bearcats on July 15.

4-star DL Kendrick Gilbert – Committed to Purdue
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 331
The Skinny: Gilbert has been committed since Aug. 28 but Kentucky has recently taken over as the favorite to sign him according to the On3 RPM. Former Purdue coach Jeff Brohm is now at Louisville and took defensive line coach Mark Hagen with him. Hagen was the primary recruiter in Gilbert’s recruitment thus giving the Wildcats an opportunity to flip him.

4-star EDGE Cameron Lenhardt – Uncommitted
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 342
The Skinny: Lenhardt decommitted from Nebraska on Sept. 18 after the Cornhusker fired defensive coordinator Erik Chinander. Despite that, he may still end up in Lincoln as head coach matt Rhule re-offered Lenhardt and he took an official visit on the weekend of Dec. 10.

4-star WR Ja’Kobi Lane – Committed to USC
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 351
The Skinny: Lane has been a solid USC commitment since August 26 but the talented receiver recently deactivated his Twitter account and did not sign with the Trojans on National Signing Day. He is the only one of the Trojans’ 20 pledges who did not sign.

4-star LB Michael Harris – Uncommitted
On3 Consensus Ranking: No. 355
The Skinny: Harris decommitted from UCF alongside his brother Andrew on Dec. 18. The two figure to be a package deal and schools like Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State and Pittsburgh are all in the mix.
