With the end of his rookie season quickly approaching, Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks had yet to score his first touchdown in the NFL. But that changed on Sunday when Burks found his way into the end zone in a rather strange way.

Early in the second quarter of the Titans’ home game against the Cincinnati Bengals, running back Derrick Henry broke a huge run and looked to be gone for a 75-yard touchdown. But right before he reached the goal line, Henry lost the ball on a strip play from the Bengals. The ball bounced into the end zone and Burks fell on it for the score.

You can see video of the score below. The play was ruled a zero-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.

The 18th overall pick coming out of Arkansas in the 2022 NFL Draft, Burks has been working to become a part of the Titans’ offense but is still finding his way. Entering this week, Burks had 20 catches for 264 yards and no scores. However, just 10 days ago, Burks caught seven passes for 111 yards, his best game of his rookie season.

Burks was a four-star prosepct in the On3 consensus rankings and the No. 105 overall player and No. 21 wide receiver in his class. Burks emerged as a strong receiving option over the last two seasons at Arkansas. In 2020, the former Razorback caught 51 passes for 820 yards and seven touchdowns. He then followed that up with 1,104 yards and 11 touchdowns on 66 catches.

Burks, from Warren (Ark.) High, was Second Team All-SEC in 2020 and then followed that up with First Team All-SEC honors in 2021. Like many players in Burks’ position during bowl season, the Arkansas wide receiver made the decision in December to opt out of the Outback Bowl against Penn State.
