Trinidad Chambliss reacts to 'funny,' 'disrespectful' jersey theft prior to Egg Bowl
Trinidad Chambliss‘ introduction to the Egg Bowl rivalry came courtesy of an early morning heist after a pair of Mississippi State fans allegedly broke into the visiting locker room inside Starkville’s Davis Wade Stadium and stole the Ole Miss quarterback’s game jersey.
Cameras wisely installed by Rebels equipment manager Ken Crain caught the prank in action, though they were somewhat unnecessary since the hooligans posted their criminality on social media, later shared by Old Row Sports just before kickoff Friday.
“The team has video of two fans entering their locker room at around 3 am – one himself videoing the break-in – and walking out with Trinidad Chambliss‘ game jersey,” Yahoo Sports! Ross Dellenger wrote on X prior to the Noon ET kickoff. “Authorities have surveillance of the vehicle as well.”
Of course, it was all four naught as the Rebels had a backup jersey for Chambliss, who threw for 359 yards and four touchdowns in the 38-19 win Friday afternoon, likely securing No. 7 Ole Miss (11-1, 7-1 SEC) the program’s first-ever College Football Playoff win in the process.
Following the game, Chambliss admitted he initially found some humor in the prank, but also echoed Rebels coach Lane Kiffin‘s earlier comments and condemned it as “very disrespectful.”

“I thought it was kind of funny, but it’s very disrespectful, honestly,” Chambliss said postgame, according to On3’s Jake Thompson. “It kind of shows you what kind of school Mississippi State is. They’ve always had brawls and fights and whatnot. We can’t get too caught up in that, but that was very disrespectful.”
It appears like Ole Miss and Chambliss eventually recovered the stolen jersey, based on a postgame tweet from Ole Miss fan Tyler Jordan. Check it out below:
Lane Kiffin reveals Mississippi State fan stole QB Trinidad Chambliss’ jersey overnight
Earlier Friday, Kiffin told ESPN’s Marty Smith about the early-morning heist on the SEC Network’s pregame show SEC This Morning.
“This will be a great game today. It’s a very passionate rivalry. I mean, shoot, at 10 p.m. last night, luckily our great (equipment manager) Ken Crain put secret cameras in the locker room so we could watch Mississippi State break into our locker room and steal things,” Kiffin told Smith. “We reported it to Mississippi State and they said ‘We’ll put security on it.’ And how about this? At 3 am in the morning, they break in and take Trinidad (Chambliss)‘s jersey! Guess you can expect nothing less from these people.”
