Less than 48 hours remain until the start of the Early Signing Period. Once it begins, there will certainly be movement in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.

However, the past week was quite eventful on the recruiting trail. The top 25 as of December 19 can be found below.

1. Alabama (94.991)
3 five-stars | 19 four-stars | 2 three-stars | 24 total recruits
Top Commit: Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek safety Caleb Downs, No. 6 in On3 Consensus
Summary: Alabama’s class is led by Downs, a Five-Star Plus+ recruit. The Crimson Tide’s group got a big boost on Dec. 12 thanks to a commitment from five-star EDGE Keon Keeley. Meanwhile, running back Justice Haynes — Alabama’s third five-star pledge — is the No. 2 tailback this cycle. Head coach Nick Saban‘s program has maintained the top spot since the summer thanks to the aforementioned players, as well as pledges from four-star running back Richard Young and four-star defensive backs Jahlil Hurley and Tony Mitchell, as well as top-150 quarterbacks Eli Holstein and Dylan Lonergan.

2. Georgia (94.096)

Top Commit: Saint Louis (Mo.) IMG Academy five-star EDGE Samuel M’Pemba, No. 34 in On3 Consensus
Summary: Georgia got a huge recruiting win on Dec. 4 by landing a commitment from M’Pemba, the No. 4 EDGE in the country. Kirby Smart‘s group has maintained the No. 2 spot with commitments from multiple top-50 prospects, including M’Pemba, four-star cornerback A.J. Harris, four-star safety Joenel Aguero and four-star linebacker Raylen Wilson. Other top-100 recruits in the group are four-star offensive tackle Monroe Freeling, four-star linebacker Troy Bowles, four-star defensive lineman Gabriel Harris, four-star wide receiver Tyler Williams and four-star linebacker CJ Allen.

3. Miami (93.257)
3 five-stars | 12 four-stars | 10 three-stars | 25 total recruits
Top Commit: Lakeland (Fla.) cornerback Cormani McClain, No. 3 in On3 Consensus
Summary: Mario Cristobal and his staff are making headlines on the recruiting trail. Within a week, they landed four commitments from five-star offensive tackle Samson Okunlola, four-star EDGE Rueben Bain, four-star running back Mark Fletcher and four-star running back Christopher Johnson. Miami has one of the deepest classes this cycle with seven top-100 prospects. They include McClain and offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa, who are both Five-Star Plus+ recruits. Others are Bain, four-star EDGE Jayden Wayne, four-star linebacker Malik Bryant and four-star tight end Riley Williams.

4. Ohio State (93.167)
1 five-star | 18 four-stars | 1 three-stars | 20 total recruits
Top Commit: Miami Gardens (Fla.) American Heritage wide receiver Brandon Inniss, No. 28 in On3 Consensus
Summary: The Buckeyes’ class is headlined by three top-10 receivers in the 2023 cycle. They are Inniss, four-star Carnell Tate and four-star Noah Rogers, who are all top-50 prospects in the On3 Consensus. Ohio State also has a commitment from the No. 2 interior offensive lineman in the country in Luke Montgomery. On defense, Ohio State has pledges from multiple players ranked in the top 10 at their position, including four-star defensive lineman Jason Moore, four-star cornerback Calvin Simpson-Hunt and four-star safety Malik Hartford. Head coach Ryan Day and his staff recently found their next quarterback as they flipped four-star Lincoln Kienholz from Washington.

5. Texas (93.137)
3 five-stars | 10 four-stars | 9 three-stars | 22 total recruits
Top Commit: New Orleans (La.) Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning, No. 1 in On3 Consensus
Summary: Texas’ class has been one of the best in the nation since the commitment of Manning, a Five-Star Plus+ prospect. The Longhorns got even better by landing five-star linebacker Anthony Hill on Dec. 15. Right now, head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff have pledges from three players (Hill, Manning and five-star running back Cedric Baxter Jr.) ranked No. 1 at their positions, according to the On3 Consensus. Texas’ class also contains talented prospects such as four-star safety Derek Williams, four-star wide receivers Johntay Cook II and Ryan Niblett and four-star cornerback Malik Muhammad.

6. Notre Dame (93.103)
1 five-star | 20 four-stars | 5 three-stars | 26 total recruits
Top Commit: Denton (Texas) Guyer safety Peyton Bowen, No. 13 in On3 Consensus
Summary: The Fighting Irish’s class is led by Bowen, one of the top defensive backs in the cycle. Oklahoma is a significant threat to flip Bowen, so keeping him in the class will be a top priority for Marcus Freeman and his staff. On Oct. 15, Notre Dame earned a massive win on the recruiting trail by landing a commitment from Saint Louis (Mo.) Christian Brothers College four-star running back Jeremiyah Love. He is currently Notre Dame’s third-highest-ranked prospect behind Bowen and four-star offensive tackle Charles Jagusah. Between Nov. 27 and Dec. 1, the Fighting Irish landed pledges from three-star interior offensive lineman Chris Terek and three-star wide receiver Kaleb Smith

7. LSU (93.020)
1 five-star | 17 four-stars | 7 three-stars | 25 total recruits
Top Commit: Monroe (La.) Neville offensive tackle Zalance Heard, No. 24 in On3 Consensus
Summary: The Tigers’ success on the recruiting trail starts on their home turf. LSU has commitments from some of the top players in the Pelican State including Heard, four-star wide receiver Shelton Sampson Jr., four-star running back Kaleb Jackson and four-star safety Kylin Jackson. Of the top 16 players in Louisiana, eight of them are committed to the Tigers. Brian Kelly has also made a mark out-of-state. On Dec. 15, he landed a commitment from four-star safety Javien Toviano, the No. 54 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus and a Texas native.

8. Oklahoma (92.290)
2 five-stars | 13 four-stars | 8 three-stars | 23 total recruits
Top Commit: Denton (Texas) Guyer quarterback Jackson Arnold, No. 8 in On3 Consensus
Summary: Oklahoma got a big recruiting win on Dec. 12 when four-star safety Daeh McCullough flipped to the Sooners from Cincinnati. At the moment, Oklahoma holds commitments from six top-100 prospects, including Arnold — a Five-Star Plus+ prospect — five-star EDGE Adepoju Adebawore and four-star wide receiver Jaquaize Pettaway. The Sooners have went out-of-state to bolster their class, winning recruiting battles for prospects such as four-star offensive tackle Cayden Green and four-star safety Makari Vickers. Oklahoma has also found talent in its own backyard with in-state four-star athlete Jacobe Johnson.

9. Florida (92.210)
0 five-stars | 17 four-stars | 4 three stars | 21 total recruits
Top Commit: Gardendale (Ala.) defensive lineman Kelby Collins, No. 59 in On3 Consensus
Summary: Billy Napier and his staff sparked one of the top storylines of the 2023 cycle by flipping four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada from Miami on Nov. 10. Rashada gives the Gators a top-100 signal-caller to pair with a talented offensive class. Florida has commitments from four-star wide receivers Aidan Mizell and Eugene Wilson III, as well as four-star running back Treyaun Webb. The Gators also have a strong defensive back group with four-star cornerback Dijon Johnson, four-star cornerback Ja’Keem Jackson and four-star safety Jordan Castell. Recruiting the Sunshine State is a priority for Napier, but he has also landed pledges from out-of-state, including Collins.

10. Clemson (91.959)
1 five-star | 15 four-stars | 9 three-stars | 25 total recruits
Top Commit: Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson defensive lineman Peter Woods, No. 26 in On3 Consensus
Summary: Clemson’s group is led by Woods and four-star quarterback Christopher Vizzina, two of the top players in Alabama. Four-star EDGE Tomarrion Parker chose the Tigers on Nov. 21, giving them five top-100 prospects. They are Parker, Vizzina, Woods, four-star defensive lineman Vic Burley and four-star defensive lineman Stephiylan Green. Clemson’s class is strengthened by eight other top-300 recruits, including four-star linebacker Jamal Anderson and four-star athlete Ronan Hanafin. Between Dec. 13 and Dec. 16, the Tigers landed three-star athlete Khalil Barnes and three-star running back Jarvis Green.

11. Tennessee (91.720)
2 five-stars | 10 four-stars | 12 three-stars | 24 total recruits
Top Commit: Long Beach (Calif.) Poly quarterback Nico Iamaleava, No. 10 in On3 Consensus
Summary: Iamaleava is the centerpiece of Tennessee’s class and figures to be the program’s quarterback of the future when he arrives in Knoxville. However, he is nor the only offensive player bound to succeed in the Volunteers’ high-powered offense under head coach Josh Heupel. Four-star tight end Ethan Davis and four-star athlete Cameron Seldon are two of those prospects. Heupel has landed some talented defensive prospects, as well. They include five-star defensive lineman Daevin Hobbs, four-star EDGE Caleb Herring — the top player in Tennessee — and four-star linebacker Arion Carter, who chose Tennessee on Dec. 14.

12. USC (91.593)
3 five-stars | 8 four-stars | 9 three-stars | 20 total recruits
Top Commit: Los Alamitos (Calif.) quarterback Malachi Nelson, No. 2 in On3 Consensus
Summary: The Trojans are one of two programs with commitments from two Five-Star Plus+ prospects. Nelson and wide receiver Zachariah Branch lead the class, alongside offensive talent such as five-star wide receiver Makai Lemon and four-star running back Quinten JoynerLincoln Riley, known for his offensive pedigree, has also done a nice job building USC’s defensive group. It includes four-star EDGE Braylen Shelby and four-star linebacker Tackett Curtis, who are both top-115 prospects. Over the last few months, Riley has boosted the trenches with commitments from four-star offensive tackle Elijah Paige and three-star defensive linemen Sam Greene and Deijon Laffitte. Additionally, three-star defensive lineman Elijah Hughes chose the Trojans on Dec. 17.

13. Penn State (91.583)
0 five-stars | 15 four-stars | 7 three-stars | 22 total recruits
Top Commit: Reading (Pa.) Wyomissing interior offensive lineman Jven Williams, No. 35 in On3 Consensus
Summary: The Nittany Lions’ group is led by two offensive lineman in Williams and four-star interior offensive lineman Alex Birchmeier. Penn State’s success this cycle can be linked to landing both in-state and nearby out-of-state talent. The Nittany Lions currently have commitments from five of the eight best players in Pennsylvania in Williams, four-star linebacker Ta’Mere Robinson, four-star defensive lineman Jameial Lyons, four-star running back London Montgomery and four-star tight end Joey Schlaffer. Additionally, the Nittany Lions hold pledges from Birchmeier, four-star linebacker Tony Rojas and four-star Kaveion Keys, three of the four top players in Virginia. Keys, four-star EDGE Joseph Mupoyi and three-star defensive lineman and three-star Mason Robinson chose Penn State between Dec. 12 and Dec. 16.

14. Oregon (91.530)
2 five-stars | 11 four-stars | 10 three-stars | 25 total recruits
Top Commit: Detroit Martin Luther King quarterback Dante Moore, No. 9 in On3 Consensus
Summary: In his first season leading the Ducks, Dan Lanning has one of the best recruiting classes in the Pac-12. Oregon’s group is led by Moore and five-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey, two top-25 prospects. However, UCLA is pushing hard to flip Moore. Lanning has also utilized Oregon’s regional footprint to the Ducks’ benefit. Six of Oregon’s 11 top-300 pledges are from the West including Dickey, four-star cornerback Caleb Presley, four-star athlete Cole Martin and four-star defensive lineman A’mauri Washington. The Ducks also landed two commitments in November from four-star defensive lineman Johnny Bowens and three-star interior offensive lineman Gernorris Wilson.

15. Texas A&M (90.378)
1 five-star | 8 four-stars | 4 three-stars | 13 total recruits
Top Commit: Katy (Texas) Paetow defensive lineman David Hicks, No. 7 in On3 Consensus
Summary: Hicks, a Five-Star Plus+ recruit, is the leader of Texas A&M’s 2023 class. Meanwhile, on Dec. 7, Jimbo Fisher and his staff got a big win by landing a commitment from four-star running back Rueben Owens. It is clear that Texas A&M is not on track for the nation’s top class like last year, but the Aggies’ group still contains a good amount of blue-chip talent. Four-star cornerback Bravion Rogers re-committed to the Aggies after backing off his pledge to the program over the summer. Meanwhile, Texas A&M has commitments from three other top-110 prospects in four-star interior offensive lineman Chase Bisontis, four-star safety Dalton Brooks and four-star cornerback Jayvon Thomas.

16. Florida State (89.788)
1 five-star | 8 four-stars | 7 three-stars | 16 total recruits
Top Commit: Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Stranahan wide receiver Hykeem Williams, No. 30 in On3 Consensus
Summary: Mike Norvell earned one of the biggest recruiting wins of his tenure by landing Williams, the No. 5 wide receiver in the country. It continued momentum from the Seminoles’ strong summer on the recruiting trail. During those months, they notched pledges from four-star EDGE Keldric Faulk, four-star offensive tackle Lucas Simmons and four-star running back Samuel Singleton. Singleton and Simmons are from Florida, as is four-star EDGE Lamont Green Jr., demonstrating that Florida State can keep blue-chip talent in-state. Another top-250 prospect in Florida State’s class is four-star defensive lineman Keith Sampson Jr. Norvell also got his quarterback, flipping four-star Brock Glenn from Ohio State on Nov. 21. 

17. South Carolina (89.288)
0 five-stars | 10 four-stars | 9 three-stars | 19 total recruits
Top Commit: Roebuck (S.C.) Dorman four-star interior offensive lineman Markee Anderson, No. 147 in On3 Consensus
Summary: In mid-July, the Gamecocks’ class just sneaked into the top 25 of the recruiting rankings and had only six four-stars. Now, South Carolina has 10, a key reason for its rise towards the top 15. This summer was instrumental for the Gamecocks. In late August, Shane Beamer and his staff landed three top-200 commitments in 11 days from four-star defensive lineman Zavion Hardy, four-star EDGE Desmond Umeozulu and four-star defensive lineman Xzavier McLeod. Meanwhile, Anderson announced his pledge on July 31. South Carolina’s most recent commitment came on Dec. 18 from three-star athlete Tyshawn Russell.

18. TCU (89.153)
0 five-stars | 7 four-stars | 15 three-stars | 23 total recruits
Top Commit: Garland (Texas) Naaman Forest four-star interior offensive lineman Markis Deal, No. 131 in On3 Consensus
Summary: TCU is headed to the College Football Playoff, and that success is translating to recruiting. The Horned Frogs’ class climbed in the rankings on Nov. 20 following a commitment from Deal. A key reason for TCU’s recruiting success is keeping Texas players home. The Horned Frogs have 19 pledges from the Lone Star State, including Deal, four-star wide receiver Cordale Russell, four-star safety Warren Roberson, four-star defensive lineman Avion Carter and four-star running back Cameron Cook. On Dec. 16, head coach Sonny Dykes and his staff landed pledges from four-star safeties Jamel Johnson and Randon Fontenette.

19. Arkansas (88.974)
0 five-stars | 6 four-stars | 14 three-stars | 20 total recruits
Top Commit: Frisco (Texas) Lone Star cornerback Jaylon Braxton, No. 130 in On3 Consensus
Summary: In his third season in Fayetteville, Sam Pittman has Arkansas on the right track on the recruiting trail. Shamar Easter is one of the Razorbacks’ two four-star tight end commits alongside Luke Hasz. Four-star quarterback Malachi Singleton is a top-25 player at his position, giving Pittman another key offensive commitment. However, the Razorbacks lost pledges from four-star athlete Micah Tease on Dec. 19 and three-star defensive lineman Stephen Johnson and three-star tight end Jaden Hamm on Dec. 18.

20Michigan (88.723

Top Commit: Colleyville (Texas) Covenant Christian Academy four-star defensive lineman Enow Etta, No. 119 in On3 Consensus
Summary: Between Dec. 14 and Dec. 18, Michigan got pledges from three-star safety D’Juan Waller Jr. and three-star Roderick Pierce III. Meanwhile, from Nov. 18 to the end of the month, head coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff notched pledges from three-star interior offensive lineman Nathan Efobi, three-star cornerback Cameron Calhoun, three-star linebacker Jason Hewlett and three-star athlete Breeon Ishmail. Michigan has also succeeded with in-state recruiting. This cycle, the Wolverines have pledges from three of the top 12 players in Michigan. They are four-star interior offensive lineman Amir Herring, four-star running back Cole Cabana and three-star wide receiver Semaj Morgan

21. Ole Miss (88.689)
0 five-stars | 9 four-stars | 4 three-stars | 13 total recruits
Top Commit: Raleigh (Miss.) linebacker Suntarine Perkins, No. 58 in On3 Consensus
Summary: Lane Kiffin has already landed commitments from Mississippi’s two top recruits. Perkins chose Ole Miss on Nov. 28, 2021, while four-star wide receiver Ayden Williams announced his pledge to Kiffin and his staff on Aug. 21. Last week, the Rebels got a huge win on the recruiting trail by landing a commitment from four-star running back Kedrick Reescano on Dec. 17 . Other offensive prospects heading to Oxford are four-star athlete Neeo Avery and four-star quarterback Marcel Reed. Ole Miss also got a pledge four-star cornerback Braxton Myers, a top-250 prospect, this fall.

22. Louisville (88.524)
0 five-stars | 6 four-stars | 8 three-stars | 14 total recruits
Top Commit: Los Alamitos (Calif.) wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr., No. 101 in in On3 Consensus
Summary: Louisville suffered a big loss when Rueben Owens decommitted and soon flipped to Texas A&M. The Cardinals will also have to work hard to keep Moore Jr., who has taken official visits to Georgia and Texas. However, four-star cornerback Aaron Williams and four-star interior offensive lineman Madden Sanker are two top-200 prospects that have helped Louisville’s group stay in the top 25. Another important 2023 recruit for the Cardinals is four-star quarterback Pierce Clarkson, who has been instrumental in pitching prospects to commit to Louisville.

23. Michigan State (88.428)
0 five-stars | 8 four-stars | 5 three-stars | 13 total recruits
Top Commit: Norman (Okla.) Community Christian School EDGE Bai Jobe, No. 79 in On3 Consensus
Summary: Michigan State found their quarterback of the future when three-star quarterback Sam Leavitt committed to the Spartans on Dec. 15. The Spartans, whose class ranks No. 4 in the Big Ten, is led by Jobe and four-star EDGE Andrew Depaepe, who are top-115 recruits. Michigan State has bolstered its class with other blue-chip prospects, including Brown, four-star offensive tackle Stanton Ramil, in-state four-star defensive lineman Jalen Thompson and four-star linebacker Jordan Hall. But four-star linebacker Jayvant Brown decommitted from head coach Mel Tucker and his staff on Dec. 18.

24. Utah (88.423)
0 five-stars | 6 four-stars | 14 three-stars | 20 total recruits
Top Commit: Gilbert (Ariz.) Highland offensive tackle Caleb Lomu, No. 144 in On3 Consensus
Summary: Utah won the Pac-12 Championship and is Rose Bowl-bound for the second consecutive year. That success is coinciding with some big wins on the recruiting trail for head coach Kyle Whittingham and his staff. Between Dec. 6 and Dec. 13, the Utes landed commitments from four-star offensive tackle Spencer Fano, four-star EDGE Hunter Clegg and four-star cornerbacks CJ Blocker and Smith Snowden. These players, as well as Lomu, chose Utah over programs including Alabama, Michigan, Oregon, Stanford and USC.

25. Baylor (88.188)
0 five-stars | 4 four-stars | 17 three-stars | 21 total recruits
Top Commit: Dripping Springs (Texas) quarterback Austin Novosad, No. 117 in On3 Consensus
Summary: Baylor’s biggest win on the recruiting trail came over the summer when Novosad spurned offers from Notre Dame, Ohio State and Texas A&M and stayed committed to the Bears. Even though Novosad is Baylor’s only top-150 recruit, other blue-chip talent is heading to Waco, including four-star offensive tackle Isaiah Robinson, four-star cornerback Tay’Shawn Wilson and four-star tight end Matthew Klopfenstein. However, multiple players have recently decommitted from the Bears, including three-star safety Cory Huff Jr. and three-star linebacker Taurean York.
