The Dallas Cowboys came up empty on an a controversial 11 play, 74-yard drive after Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was stopped short of the goal line on a quarterback sneak on fourth down. Though the ball looked to have potentially crossed the goal line, officials declared the call stood after the Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy challenged the ruling on the field.

The failed fourth-down left the game tied 7-7 near the end of the first quarter. On the ensuing possession, the Eagles couldn’t move the ball from the shadow of their own end zone and wound up punting the ball back to Dallas.

The Cowboys have been able to move the ball effectively early in the game. Dallas opened the game with a six-play, 75-yard drive capped off by a one-yard touchdown run by Ezekiel Elliott that was set up by a 44-yard pass from Prescott to second-year receiver CeeDee Lamb.

The Eagles responded to tie the game after defensive tackle Fletcher Cox caught a fumbled pass by Dak Prescott in the endzone and made a fantastic catch to score for the Eagles. The defensive touchdown came after a Philadelphia interception on the one-yard line that backed the Cowboys up to their own endzone.

Coming into their Monday night game with the Cowboys, the Eagles had not forced a single turnover on the season.

Dallas is without safety Donovan Wilson, offensive tackle Ty Nsekhe, defensive end Dorance Armstrong, defensive lineman Carlos Watkins and quarterback Will Grier for Monday’s game.

Wilson didn’t practice Thursday, Friday and Saturday. His injury did not heal sufficiently to play on Monday. Wilson’s groin injury nagged him for most of fall camp and has lingered into the 2021 season.

In addition, the Dallas Cowboys elevated defensive tackle Justin Hamilton and tight end Jeremy Sprinkle to their roster prior to Monday night’s game.

Hamilton and Sprinkle were elevated as COVID-19 replacements for linebacker Keanu Neal and defensive end Bradlee Anae, who were ruled out for week three after being placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Dallas also elevated fullback Nick Ralston from the practice squad.
