WATCH: Evan Mobley nails half-courter to win shooting skills competition
Evan Mobley and Darius Garland simply could not miss on Saturday night in front of the home crowd in Cleveland. As a part of the weekend’s NBA All-Star festivities, they were torching the nets in the shooting skills competition. Then a few minutes later, Evan Mobley drained a half-court shot to win the contest for the Cleveland Cavaliers’ teammates.

It’s been one heck of a night for the Cavaliers franchise and their fans on All-Star Saturday night. Mobley drilling a half-court shot just topped it all off. This year, the former USC star is averaging 14.9 points per game, 8.1 rebounds per game, and 2.6 assists per game as a rookie.
Evan Mobley was the one of the highest rated recruits in Trojans’ basketball history
Mobley played his college basketball for the USC Trojans, and he was a five-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class. He was rated as the No. 1 center in America in the class, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings. He was the third rated overall prospect in the country in that class, behind Cade Cunningham and Jalen Green. He was named a 2020 McDonald’s All-American and was also named the Gatorade California Player of the Year twice.
While at USC during the 2020-2021 season, Mobley averaged 16.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.9 blocks, and 2.4 assists. He became the first player ever to be named Pac-12 Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season. He also became only the second player from a major conference to accomplish the feat. Anthony Davis of Kentucky also did it in 2012. Not surprisingly, Mobley led all Pac-12 players with 12 double-doubles and he also ranked first in blocks and rebounds.
He was selected third overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
