Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days to repair his torn ACL that was suffered in Sunday’s Super Bowl 56 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Beckham Jr. went down with the injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s game – just after he had a big opening period for the Rams with two receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown. Despite the loss of Beckham Jr., Los Angeles was able to come out on top with a 23-20 win at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

As Beckham Jr. heads into free agency, Rapoport points out that it’s crucial for the wideout to be back to healthy as soon as possible.

“He is expected to have surgery,” Rapoport said of Beckham Jr. “That should happen in the coming days. They’re going to try to do it as soon as possible, just because he is a free agent and you want to get him back and healing as soon as possible. It sounded like that knee gave him some problems even before the game – there was a chance that they might of had to fix it anyway whether or not he went down.”
