The top recruit in 2023 is living up to the hype through the first two weeks of his high school season. Isidore (LA.) Newman quarterback Arch Manning had five touchdowns in a 49-21 rout of Metairie Park Country Day.

Manning opened his junior season completing 19 of 34 pass attempts for 238 yards and three touchdowns, adding 50 more yards and a touchdown on the ground to lead Newman past Vandebilt Catholic, 28-0.

On Friday night, Manning threw for nearly 240 yards, four touchdowns and over 60 yards, including this run, that saw Manning drag defenders on the way to a first down.

On the same drive, Manning chose to keep on a designed read play, beating a defender to the outside and breaking multiple tackles for a 20-yard run to set Isidore Newman up inside the 5-yard line.

In his first two seasons as a starter for Newman, the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, and grandson of Archie Manning, threw for more than 4,000 yards and 55 touchdowns, while completing better than 64 percent of his passes. He is ranked as the No. 1 quarterback and top overall player in the 2023 On100 rankings and has garnered offers from major programs like Alabama, Ole Miss, Clemson, Georgia and Texas.

In his first two seasons of high school, Manning led Newman to an 18-3 record and passed for 4,081 yards and 53 touchdowns, completing close to 68 percent of his attempts.

Arch Manning plans five fall visits

Manning has planned at least five visits for the 2021 season. The 6-foot-4 quarterback made his first visit last Saturday, to see Georgia defeat South Carolina.

Manning plans to visit Alabama next weekend, with Clemson, Texas and Ole Miss following over the coming weeks.

The uncommitted Manning plans on visiting Alabama for the Tide’s game against Eli’s alma mater Ole Miss on Oct. 2. Two weeks later, Manning will visit Texas for the Longhorns’ matchup with Oklahoma State on Oct. 16.

Manning will visit Ole Miss the following week for the Rebels’ matchup with LSU on Oct. 23. Ole Miss, the alma mater of Eli Manning and Arch’s father, Cooper, will be retiring Eli’s jersey that weekend. He will then visit Clemson on Oct. 30, when the Tigers host Florida State.

Manning previously said he could visit local Tulane and remains in contact with in-state LSU and Stanford as well.
