Week 11 of the college football season is upon us and there are a lot of good matchups, which means top recruits will be flocking to campuses again for official and unofficial visits. We’re also 34 days until the start of the early signing period, so visits will continue to ramp up. On3 previews the top recruiting trips scheduled for the weekend and breaks down the most important visits.

Five-star recruiting weekend on tap for Texas

After watching rival Texas A&M capture recruiting momentum in the Lone Star State last weekend, the Texas Longhorns hope to flip the script with an important recruiting weekend on tap.

The Longhorns are expected to host three five stars and an important four-star quarterback target visits this weekend. A big group of unofficial visitors in the 2023 class and even some select sophomores will also be on the Forty Acres.

On3 Consensus five-star offensive tackle Devon Campbell of Arlington (Texas) Bowie made news earlier this week when he canceled his LSU official visit and reaffirmed that he would be in Austin this weekend.

Campbell, the No. 9 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the industry-generated On3 Consensus, has already visited Alabama, Oklahoma and USC. The candidates for the fifth and final visit on his list are Georgia, Florida, Oregon and Texas A&M. UGA is the favorite, at this point, to get that last visit.

But make no mistake, Texas and Oklahoma are considered the favorites.

On3 Consensus four-star offensive tackle Kam Dewberry of Humble (Texas) Atascocita is also scheduled to be at Texas for an official visit.

It’s been hard to get a read on where Dewberry is leaning toward. Texas A&M did a great job of hosting him last weekend, and he has a strong family bond with the Aggies. Oklahoma is also high on his list, so this visit weekend will be big for the Horns to regain some momentum with him.

Four-star quarterback Devin Brown of Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon says he’s still committed to USC. But until the Trojans have a coach, other schools – namely Ole Miss and Texas – aren’t going to stop pursuing him.

Brown raved about his official visit in October to Ole Miss, and it’s now the Longhorns’ chance to put themselves squarely in his recruitment.

More 5-stars set to be on Forty Acres

Five-star offensive tackle Kelvin Banks of Humble (Texas) Summer Creek made national headlines when spurned local schools Texas and Texas A&M to commit to Mario Cristobal and the Oregon Ducks on July 4.

Texas, which needs franchise offensive linemen like Banks, has yet to relent in its pursuit of the Houston area star. Neither has Texas A&M. Intel indicates there are some family dynamics that might keep Banks close to home. That’s why it will be important for Banks to make it to campus this weekend for an unofficial visit.

Another five-star that should be there for a visit is cornerback Denver Harris of Houston North Shore. Harris has Alabama, A&M, Texas and LSU on his list.

Texas will also get its chance to make another impression on El Campo (Texas) High junior running back Rueben Owens and begin the hunt to replace the production that will eventually be left by Bijan Robinson.

Florida State hosting big group with rival Miami coming to town

Any time you host the nation’s No. 1 recruit it’s a big deal. But for Florida State, making sure the top 2022 prospect Marvin Jones Jr. has a good official visit is imperative.

Jones out of Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage ranks as the No. 1 player in the country, according to On3. He heads to visit the Seminoles with Florida State battling GeorgiaOhio StateOklahoma and Alabama for his commitment.

Jones’ father, Marvin Jones Sr., was a star linebacker for Florida State in the 1990s. He’s the biggest must-get recruit for the Noles in the 2022 class. Landing Jones would be a huge boost to a Florida State recruiting class that ranks at No. 13 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking.

Also coming in for official visits are: Las Vegas Desert Pines On3 Consensus four-star running back Jovantae Barnes, Consensus three-star receiver Camden Brown of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas and highly coveted juco cornerback DeCarlos Nicholson out of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

Five-star safety Kamari Wilson also added his name to the official visit list on Thursday.

Intel for Barnes indicates the Noles are currently trailing Oklahoma – where he will take one more unofficial visit to this season – and Alabama. That means FSU has a lot of work to do this weekend to become a real threat in the race.

Even though he’s been committed to Pitt since late June, Florida State and Auburn have put the full-court press on Brown.

Nicholson is committed to Kentucky, but he’s also taking a long, long look at Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Florida State.

Walter Nolen still set to visit Tennessee this weekend

Last weekend, Walter Nolen shook the college football world when he committed to the Texas A&M Aggies while on a visit to College Station, Texas.

Nolen ranks as only four players that are Five Star Plus+ prospects in the 2022 class along with athlete Travis Hunter, receiver Evan Stewart and cornerback Domani Jackson. The recognition means they are the only players ranked by all four major recruiting media companies as five star.

It was a momentous weekend and put the Aggies on a path to a potential No. 1 recruiting class.

But as we’ve seen throughout Nolen’s recruitment, the door hasn’t been totally slammed on other schools, especially local favorite Tennessee.

On3’s Chad Simmons confirmed Wednesday Nolen will still take his scheduled visit to Rocky Top this weekend.

“We know Texas A&M is on top, but it will have to hold off Tennessee,” Simmons wrote. “Nolen is still planning to visit Tennessee officially this weekend according to his father. Then there are in-home visits. Then, will Nolen sign early or wait until February? He has talked about waiting for February in the past.”

Ole Miss hosting 4-star receiver

Ole Miss plans to officially host On3 Consensus four-star receiver Antonio Williams, the third-ranked player in South Carolina, on his official visit this weekend. The Rebels are battling South Carolina and Auburn for his pledge. Also expected on an official visit is longtime Duke commitment Vincent Anthony, an On3 Consensus three-star EDGE out of Durham (N.C.) C.E. Jordan.

Ole Miss is also hoping On3 Consensus four-star linebacker Stone Blanton of Madison (Miss.) Madison-Ridgeland Academy can make it to campus this weekend. Ole Miss is surging in his recruitment, but it’s still a big-time in-state battle between the Rebels and Mississippi State.

Alabama four-star DL commit Jaheim Oatis of Columbia (Miss.) High is also believed to be visiting Ole Miss this weekend. Oatis is one of the players listed at 40% on the On3 flip forecast as both the Rebels and Bulldogs have not relented in their pursuit.

Coveted On300 prospects set for Clemson visit

On3 Consensus four-star receiver Andre Greene Jr. has narrowed his list to Clemson, Georgia and North Carolina. He will announce his decision on Nov. 17.

Greene has already visited UNC and UGA officially but an official visit this weekend to Clemson looms large in his recruitment.

“It is big for me,” Greene recently told On3’s Chad Simmons. “Even though they offered me a little late, they have been recruiting from the jump, so I am strong with them. They have a couple of presentations to show me. One is on how they would use me and the other is a comparison with them to every other school on my list.

“I should be able to start focusing on my decision after that visit.”

Also scheduled for an official visit to Clemson this weekend is On3 Consensus four-star Zion Branch of Las Vegas Bishop Gorman. Clemson has some work to do to catch Ohio State in his recruitment, so this weekend’s visit will be key.

Penn State hosts solid 2023 crop with Michigan in town

The Nittany Lions host Michigan in one of the marquee games of the weekend, so it’s no surprise Penn State is expecting to bring a big group of underclass prospects to town for visits.

With Penn State short on scholarship numbers and already sitting with the No. 8 class in the country, it’s no surprise that 2023 is the focus this weekend. Here’s a look at some of the top 2023 visitors heading to Happy Valley:

4-star receiver Kevin Coleman to visit Oregon this weekend

Oregon continues to examine receiver targets in the 2022 class, which explains why Kevin Coleman’s official visit this weekend is an important one for the Ducks.

The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – rates Coleman as the No. 64 player in the country and the seventh-best receiver in the country.

Coleman already visited Florida State. He will be at USC next weekend. Alabama and Arizona State are other schools Coleman has mentioned as possible visit candidates in the past.

Coleman is the only known official visitor for the Ducks this weekend. Read more about why Coleman’s visit is important for Oregon.
