The hydration brand BioSteel Sports Nutrition announced it signed four women’s hockey players, including Wisconsin forward Laila Edwards, Princeton forward Sarah Fillier, Brown forward Jade Iginla and Minnesota State goalie Calla Frank to NIL deals.

Each player competes on the international stage. Edwards, Iginla and Fillier play for Team Canada, while Frank plays for Team USA.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Laila, Sarah, Calla and Jade to our team of elite athletes,” BioSteel co-founder and former NHL player Michael Cammalleri said in a statement. “These athletes represent the next generation, and we look forward to supporting them on and off the ice with our lineup of zero sugar hydration products as they take their games to the next level and inspire their communities.”

Cammalleri and his business partner John Celenza founded BioSteel in 2009. The sports drink is available in flavors including blue raspberry, mixed berry, peach mango, rainbow twist and white freeze. BioSteel says its drinks are packaged in eco-friendly packaging called the Tetra Pak.

BioSteel is distributed across North America, plus with select retailers globally.

“As I continue through my first year in the college ranks, I know how important it is to stay hydrated both on and off the ice,” Edwards said in a statement. “BioSteel is a brand that understands athletes, and I’m proud to share their hydration products with my community.”

Jade Iginla, Calla Frank to appear in BioSteel commercials

Iginla and Frank will appear in a commercial that will air during NHL games. This is the first season in which BioSteel is the official hydration partner of the NFL.

The four players will also promote BioSteel at events and on social media.

“Working with BioSteel is a no-brainer for me because I know how important a hydration routine is to being at the top of my game,” Frank said in a statement. “I had a blast shooting the BioSteel commercial earlier this summer, and I look forward to continuing to represent the brand.”

Iginla is the daughter of NHL veteran Jarome Iginla, who recorded 1,300 career points and who won two Olympic gold medals with Team Canada.

“Staying hydrated keeps me healthy and performing at my best, and BioSteel products are an essential part of my routine,” Jade Iginla said in a statement. “As I work on bringing my game to the next level, I’m excited to have the support of the brand’s zero sugar sports drinks.”
