In June of 2021, Keon Keeley committed to Notre Dame, and he’s one of the key pieces in the Fighting Irish’s 2023 recruiting class. He’s also still one of the most heavily recruited EDGE prospects in the country with Florida, Alabama and others still in hot pursuit. Along with that, the 6-foot-5, 240-pound five-star from Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep has developed one of the strongest NIL brands in the country.

Keon Keeley has seen steady growth in his On3 NIL Valuation over the past few weeks and it now is at $250,000 — which places him No. 16 on the On3 High School Football NIL rankings.

Over the past couple of months, Keeley has seen steady growth in his On3 NIL Valuation. Back at the start of February, 15, 2022, Keeley’s valuation was only $23,000. Since then, it’s gone up about $228,000, or 1,013%.

Keeley’s On3 NIL Valuation is boosted by his 9,600 social media followers. This gives him an On3 Post Per Value on social media is also strong, at $270 per post. Furthermore, he is a massive recruit, whose recruitment is one of the most hotly contested. These things all contribute toward his valuation.

What makes Keeley a 5-star?

Keon Keeley is the 9th ranked player in the country, according to On3’s consensus recruiting rankings. He is also the top-ranked player at EDGE. In the Notre Dame class that he’s committed to, Keeley is the top-ranked player overall.

On3’s Charles Power is a big fan of Keeley’s game.

“He’s a long pass rusher with high-end flexibility and finishing ability behind the line of scrimmage,” Power said. “He has a big frame at 6-foot-6, 230 pounds with outstanding length (7-foot wingspan). Plays with advanced bend and flexibility, sinking his hips and using his supreme length to create disruption off the edge. Already shows signs of some technical acuity with quick hands and pass rush moves. Displays strong closing speed and finishes plays behind the line of scrimmage at a high rate. Among the more productive pass rushers in the nation as a junior. Also a bouncy athlete with a basketball background.”

What is the On3 NIL Valuation?

The On3 NIL Valuation is a tool to help evaluate and organize high school and college athletes’ NIL value. It’s important to remember that this isn’t a way of tracking NIL deals that an individual player has received. In most cases, a player’s On3 NIL Valuation and the amount they received from deals will differ. Instead, this is a way of tracking individual players’ fair market value at a given time.

There are three main factors that go into the On3 NIL Valuation. The first is an athlete’s social media presence. That’s because this is the most tangible way to see an athlete’s influence and outreach. The more followers and engagement they have, the more they’re going to be valued. On field performance, awards, and a player’s legacy all matter too. On top of all that, previous NIL deals are considered and factored into a player’s value.

In the case of Keon Keeley, he’s a star athlete. As a five-star defensive end, he is a highly sought-after recruit. Committing to Notre Dame, meanwhile, attached him to a premier program. These are great bases to work from. Now, as schools like Florida and Alabama try to flip Keeley, his profile is only going to grow.

The state of his recruitment

Just because a player is verbally committed to a school, as Keon Keeley is to Notre Dame, doesn’t mean their recruitment ends there. It’s the school a player has committed to’s job to keep recruiting that player and make sure they don’t lose the recruit. Meanwhile, other schools are going to try and flip the prospect. That’s why players keep taking visits well after they verbally commit.

Keon Keeley has been listening and receptive to schools throughout his process. Since he’s committed to Notre Dame, though, there are two schools that have made the best pushes for him. They are Florida and Alabama. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Keeley has a 66.7% chance of sticking with his commitment to Notre Dame. Florida, meanwhile, has a 20.7% chance of flipping him. For their part, Alabama has an 11.3% chance of flipping him.

Additionally, in the world of NIL, it’s hard to say exactly what will happen next. For example, large offers from NIL collectives can change the game at the last minute and throw a player’s recruitment into chaos.
