Late Night in the Phog is the official tip-off of the basketball season for the KU, and the event is even more special because the Jayhawks are coming off winning the national championship. Late Night is also getting a boost thanks to a series of NIL deals between Charlie Hustle and KU stars Jalen Wilson, KJ Adams, Zach Clemence and Gradey Dick.

Charlie Hustle, a Kansas City-based company known for its iconic KC Heart T-shirts and other NIL deals with student-athletes in the nation’s heartland, is selling four T-shirts featuring the star Jayhawks.

“We worked hard to find the right points of contact to land agreements with these four KU basketball stars,” Charlie Hustle Chief Operating Officer Greg Moore told On3.

“It ranged from phone calls with parents to going through Los Angeles-based agencies to leaning on past student-athletes like Ochai Agbaji and Mitch Lightfoot to help connect us. All in all, it felt like we were building a 1,000-piece puzzle. We had a whole community helping to complete it. It was a lot of fun.”

The shirts also have some amazing details, including Adams’ trademark tattoos.

“In order for our designer to capture the details of KJ’s arm tattoos, KJ texted over a number of photos,” Moore said. “Naturally, I had to explain to my wife why a college-aged kid was texting me photos of himself.”

Wilson is a two-year starter for KU, who returns after starting in 27 games during the 2022 NCAA national championship season. He has an On3 NIL Valuation of $300,000. Adams was named to the 2022 Big 12 All-Freshman team. He boasts an On3 NIL Valuation of $27,000. Clemence appeared in 24 games last season and has an On3 NIL Valuation of $25,000. Dick is a true freshman for the Jayhawks that entered the season as an On3 Consensus five-star recruit. Dick has an On3 NIL Valuation of $173,000.

KU NIL partnerships a big deal for Charlie Hustle

It only makes sense that Charlie Hustle continues to work with KU student-athletes on NIL deals.

Last week, the company announced a new deal with Jayhawk quarterback Jalon Daniels. The company also initially struck NIL deals in 2021 with Lightfoot and Agbaji. All of the deals have helped quality sales for Charlie Hustle.

“The University of Kansas is our top collegiate license by virtue of the campus being 45 minutes from our Kansas City headquarters and the passionate Jayhawk fanbase,” Moore said. “Any time we can take a license even further than the standard marks and evoke happiness with that fanbase we are all in. In this case, some fun caricature designs of the men’s basketball team that sprinkled in the late 80s, early 90s nostalgia aligned with everything Charlie Hustle is about.”
