The night before the 2022 edition of the Red River Showdown, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers announced a partnership with Lucchese Bootmaker. The NIL deal is the latest example of a high-profile quarterback sharing products that he endorses with his teammates.

“Texas Tough since 1883,” Ewers wrote in a tweet Friday night. “Only the best for the guys that take care of me.”

In the picture Ewers shared on Twitter, he’s surrounded by 12 offensive linemen, who are holding leather bags.

It has been a big week on and off the field for Ewers.

He suffered an injury in Texas’ 20-19 loss to Alabama in Week 2, when he was 9-for-12 passing for 134 yards. He hasn’t played since. However, Ewers will start for the Longhorns against rival Oklahoma on Saturday.

Off the field, Ewers announced an NFT partnership with Metabilia on Monday, followed by his NIL deal with Lucchese on Friday. ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Ewers will earn seven-figure compensation from his NIL deal with Metabilia.

To date, Ewers has signed nearly 10 NIL deals that have been publicly announced. Previously in this calendar year, he has partnered with the popular video game Fortnite, Wrangler and Aston Martin Dallas.

Given his talent as a former On3 Consensus Five-Star Plus quarterback prospect and his decision to enroll early at Ohio State, which allowed him to capitalize on his marketability, Ewers has become a central figure in the NIL era.

Quinn Ewers is among the most marketable athletes in the NIL era

With an On3 NIL Valuation of $1 million, Quinn Ewers’ projected market evaluation ranks No. 10 among college football players and No. 17 in the On3 NIL 100.

The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets the standard NIL market value for high school and college athletes. The On3 NIL Valuation uses a proprietary algorithm that calculates an athlete’s projected NIL value using dynamic data points targeting an athlete’s performance, influence and exposure.

While the On3 NIL Valuation’s algorithm includes NIL deal data, it doesn’t act as a tracker of the value of the NIL deals that an athlete has completed to date, nor does it set an athlete’s NIL valuation for the athlete’s entire career. The On3 NIL Valuation calculates the optimized NIL opportunity for athletes relative to the overall NIL market and projects for as long as 12 months into the future.

The On3 NIL 100 is the first-of-its-kind, defacto NIL ranking of the top 100 high school and college athletes ranked by their market valuation.

A handful of the athletes ranked ahead of Ewers in the On3 NIL 100 are other elite college quarterbacks, such as Alabama’s Bryce Young, Ohio State’s CJ Stroud and USC‘s Caleb Williams. They rank No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6, respectively.

Ewers’ generosity to his teammates follows Stroud providing all of his teammates with gift cards to Express and Williams gifting his teammates Beats by Dre headphones. Each is an example of how high-profile athletes have used NIL deals to bring their locker room together, rather than letting them divide a team.
